Hi all,
it has been in the news in recent days that the new macOS Sonoma 14.4 changes
an internal behavior that breaks Java in particular on Apple Silicon Macs.
Since a downgrade of macOS to an older version is not easily possible, it is advised
that you consider delaying any upgrades to Sonoma 14.4 if you are using INCEpTION
(the JAR file) on your Apple Silicon Mac.
This does not affect users who use their Apple Silicon Mac to connect to an INCEpTION
server instance.
I hope that a new Java version fixing the problem is available soon.
When I become aware of it, I will post an update here.
Best regards,
-- Richard

Hi all,
The macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 upgrade appears to have fixed Java again. So if you
update macOS Sonoma make sure you update to 14.4.1 or higher to ensure that
INCEpTION continues working.
Updating Java does not appear to be necessary. However, note that recent
versions of INCEpTION require at least Java 17 and updating your Java
from time to time is also a good idea.
You can obtain OpenJDK Java for various platforms including macOS e.g. from
