Hello,

I want to understand legal aspect of browser tab Icon (favicon icon) and "Inception" name display on it and header section.

Can we replace or remove that Icon and name for it? Is this legally advisable?

Now speaking legally: I am not a lawyer - so I cannot offer any legal advice.

I believe though that something like the INCEpTION icon would fall under the category of trademark law. Here is what the Apache License 2.0 says about that:

----
6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor, except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.
----

Again, reading that, I would say that replacing the favicon seems reasonable depending on how INCEpTION is built / deployed.

INCEpTION has some support for theming/branding [1,2]. The favicon is currently not replaceable, so replacing it would require building INCEpITON from the source.
So I would say, it should be reasonable to replace it. Or if you are running INCEpTION behind a reverse proxy, you can probably override the favicon at the level of the proxy.

Cheers,
