Import project and see/edit previous annotations

I have received a zip file containing the export of an inception project P defined on an instance running on server A. P includes user U, who made several annotations in the documents in P.

I have now an admin access to a difference instance of inception. I am able to import the project P (selecting the zip file), but I am not able to find a way to "see" (and later edit) the annotations made by U in the original project.

I imported the project both creating missing users and without creating missing users.

When I import the project creating missing user U and enable U, I can see the existing annotations.

However, I would like to keep things simple: import the project P in the new instance of inception, create a new user U2 and allow U2 to see the existing annotations from U.

Is this possible? I could not find a way to do this reading the user/admin guide. It seems that the annotations by U in the original project can be read only by a new user U in the second instance of inception.

There is currently no way of reassigning/transferring data from one user to another.

If you want a user to be able to see data from another user, give them the curator role in the project.
Then, they can access the annotation page, select the other user from the user dropdown in the open
document dialog and view the data of the selected user. Note, they will only be able to view the data
and not to modify it.

Hello and thanks for your answer.

Is there a way to export annotations from user U1 and let user U2 import them? I cannot find a way to do this, but I will keep trying.

Again… thanks.

You can enable the remote API.

Once enabled, you can use it to download the annotated data from U1 and then upload it again to U2.

Documentation: https://inception-project.github.io/releases/33.4/docs/admin-guide.html#sect_remote_api

Python library for accessing the remote API: https://pycaprio.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

You have to use the "annotations" endpoints/operations, not the "document" endpoints/operations.
