Hi everyone,
My question concerns the organisation and visualisation of layers. For our annotation, we defined a custom layer for our annotation (for metaphors), which just works fine, one can select it in the top right corner and all the features we define are available. Switching to other layers is possible as well.
The problem that we face is that the annotations from every active layer are visualised simultaneously. For instance, when annotating metaphors, we found that making active the layer ‘Part of speech’ would visualise the corresponding annotations even when we are on our custom layer for metaphor annotation.
Consequently, the annotations get unreadably pretty quickly, and the only way to keep things manageable is switching off all layers except the one that one is annotating at present. What we would have wanted was that, with every different layer, a different visualisation is shown, which only exhibits the annotations that are relevant for this layer, irrspective of which layers are active.
Are we just wishing for the impossible, or is there something faulty with the way in which our system is set up?
Thank you very much in advance,
Markus
