Frankineae is a sub-Order of Actinomycetales with diverse and very interesting microorganisms. Perhaps the most important genus of Frankineae is Frankia which makes symbiotic association with woody dicotyledonous forest plants called Actinorhizal plants. Sometimes this association may result in fixing valuable atmospheric nitrogen to the soil and thus increase the fertility.
