Therewas a really old bug in a previous version of PAN-OS (like in the 8.0 or 8.1 days early in that code branch) that you'd occasionally see this message. A commit force at the time fixed the issue until the root cause was actually addressed via an update.

If a simple commit force doesn't fix things, you can run 'debug device-server reset id-manager type all' and then do a commit force to completely rebuild the idmgr table, which should clear this error message.

Finally got to try the commit force but the logs are still coming in. I'll raise another change request to run 'debug device-server reset id-manager type all' and another commit force. Do you know if there is any outage when this command is run?

Hi,

I have downloaded Dropbox passwords manager app on my phone to store all my passwords. I accidently reset it and all my passwords saved are gone. I have the 12 seed recovery words which i tried to use but this did not help. The screen where I enter the recovery words accepts it does not continue. it recognises the recovery words but stays on that screen.

Any help here, I have 100s of password stored and it would be a disaster if I cannot restore or recover it. What can I do?

I have a Dropbox plus account.

Best regards,

Omar

Dropbox do not have the capability to recover things which it has permanently removed - imagine the legal issues if they did from people who wanted to remove files etc. from servers and were told it was permanent to find out its not?

Did this post not resolve your issue? If so please give us some more information so we can try and help - please remember we cannot see over your shoulder so be as descriptive as possible!

Hi,

Yes I did a reset on the iPhone app. However the information was not clear on the app as it is on the link you sent. It said it would delete data on the device and log me out.

As such I thought it would log me out from all devices as I had it in a few places BUT not delete my data.

It was just one click and no clear warning. Ithought with my 12 word seed recovery I could reinstall all passwords.

Is there no hope. Any possibility or chance to contact Dropbox support to ask them to recover it. I read sonewhere they keep data for 30 days and I still have a paid Dropbox plus account.

Thanks for your reply and any help?

Best regards,

Omar

how can I change a session manager's cust-password? I have no access anymore after being forced to change it (had to try lots of times to find a password that was accepted - but it don't let me in now!).

As it boots press the Shift key or space bar (it depends on the Linux version), when you get a flashing prompt in the upper left of the blank screen, you have three seconds to hit the key. I have had to try this a few times to get the key recognized on some systems, i.e reboot until I get the GRUB menu.

After the reboot, you can use the command "passwd cust" (wiithout the quotes) and you will be prompted to enter the new password. You will then be prompted again to confirm. Reboot the system and go from there.

Tried it with 2. entry of current kernel, but it gave me only the option during startup to enter maintenance mode, but it would need the root password.

Tried it with the 3. entry, but it didn't boot. it got stuck with a prompt on the upper left screen.

In vSphere, Virtual Machines, Edit Settings, Properties, you can edit the cust password if the VM is powered down. This is definitely not the best solution unless you have multiple Session Managers or an environment where the outage is not an issue.

I have to reactivate this topic, because we have the same issue with our 2nd session manager. unfortunately all provided procedures are NOT working here, although the CLI states that all password tokes are updated successfully.

additionally i asked an avaya engineer to provide me init-access (or was it sroot?), but also with that account resetting the password for user "cust" failed, although the CLI stated, taht all password tokens were updated successfully...?!?!?!

the solution was to reenable the account. password recovery went fine, but the account was "banned". i can't tell you the exact command that was used, but i am able to look for it if someone is interested.

I have also found for the second time that my credentials have vanished from the proxy manager and i need to re-enter the admin ones then re enter all my web forwards. Is this normal, can anyone suggest why it is happening ?

I had same issue after I moved my HA instance and restored from backup I could not see any configured hosts. It uses some default SQLite database which is temporary. I backed up DB via phpMyAdmin in case of loss and re-installed addon + restored DB. Then I was not able to start any web it reported Offline. I realized all SSL certificates were somehow broken during backup restore and I need to re-create them. I use cloudflare so I generated them with Cloudflare for 15 years and after this I was able to enable site with SSL back.

You are partially right, the reset password exist on Cloud Edition but only for Administrators, restricted users cant reset their passwords. They still have to contact the Administrator.

And that is where the second problem arise, a restricted user who does not read the screen instructions but seeing a Reset Password field input his email address will be directed to the page in my earlier screenshot.

Please is there any update on this. knowing that someone can mistakenly enter an email not registered on the database and see the above sup...@manager.io. Copying manager.io defeats the custom domain purpose and may lead to integrity issue on ownership of the software. Please what options are available to me because i dont want any of my clients to see this.

In some scenarios, you might wish to reset a CipherTrust Manager, deleting its data and restoring to a fresh state. There are a few ways to reset, depending on your access permissions to the CipherTrust Manager.

If you can access the CipherTrust Manager through SSH or serial console, and login as the ksadmin user, you can use the kscfg system configuration utility to perform a system reset or system factory reset.

In the REST API, the root admin can use POST with /v1/system/services/reset to wipe all the data in CipherTrust Manager. You can optionally include "delay":integerin the request body to set a delay in seconds. The default delay is 5 seconds.

In the ksctl CLI, the root admin can run ksctl services reset to wipe all the data in CipherTrust Manager. You can optionally include the --delay flag to set a delay in seconds. The default delay is 5 seconds.

Normally, the REST API or the CLI should be used for performing the reset. This method of performing the reset should be used as a last resort. This operation deletes all backup keys and the HSM configuration. It is good practice to do the following before running this command:

This destructive operation wipes all data on the CipherTrust Manager, including keys, backups, backup keys, system configuration, and logs. It automatically reboots the appliance twice, before booting to the factory firmware version. The appliance's factory version may be below the currently running version. Several upgrades may be required to return to the currently running version. Do not manually power-off or reset the appliance while the factory-reset is in progress. This command must be used with care.

This command expects the host-daemon system service to be up and running. However, if the host-daemon is not running or not in a good state, the factory-reset can be invoked from command line as ksadmin user by executing "sudo /opt/keysecure/ks_reset_to_factory.sh".

System reset changes the Connector Lock Code for the CipherTrust Manager. After system reset, any license files based on that earlier Connector Lock Code cannot be added. You can restore the earlier Connector Lock Code from a backup, or by adding the reset CipherTrust Manager node into a cluster with the earlier Connector Lock Code. Then, these license files can be added. As well, backup restore and cluster replication include previously installed licenses.

This way of resetting an appliance requires no authentication. Zero knowledge factory reset is available for physical appliances only. To protect from misuse, this feature requires serial access to the appliance, and contact with Thales customer support.

I just set up the printer and cannot find where I wrote down the system manager ID and Pin. I have no idea what it is. I do have the user pin and am able to log in to the UI. There is no way to reset the system manager info with the user mode. I can't even get to system settings on the device because I don't know the manager ID and Pin. Does anyone know if there is a way to reset the system manager info or the machine to factory settings so I can go through the setup again? It's a Canon MF644cdw. I currently have it connected with cat5 to router.
