How can I add a button here (Red circle in SS) when the inbox list is open but nothing is selected yet? It appears this may not be available in the SDK?

Unfortunately this is not available in the SDK. What functionality are you trying to implement?

I'd like to be able to have a button front and center there for my app that allows for the user to be notified when there is pending activity (Such as a badge on the corner of the button) that updates in real-time. Clicking the button will launch a portion of the app for the user to be able to service the pending activity.img137

hey Bryan, is it possible to use Chrome's action button  that exists at the top of Chrome to accomplish the same thing? This way it actually persists and is accessible even if you're not currently looking at Gmail.

Yeah I was thinking about this as well, and I do like the default badging behavior it has available, but the issue is that the functionality we want to provide when it is clicked should only apply to Gmail since it requires some Gmail interfaces.

A decently intuitive way to do it might be to open a gmail tab if it isn't open already or move them to the relevant gmail window when that is clicked.

Thank you for clarifying!

The button in the screenshot could be added by either Toolbars.registerThreadButton(). That button will only show up when a thread is opened or selected. We do not have any support for adding buttons in that area when no threads are selected.

hi guys! has this feature been added? cuz I see a function in doc that says.

addToolbarButtonForApp(appToolbarButtonDescriptor) Gmail Inboxreturn type: AppToolbarButtonView

Adds a button and dropdown to the "Global Toolbar". This is typically used to show a dropdown with general information about your application. In Gmail this refers to the navigation area at the top right of the window and in Inbox it refers to the top level toolbar.

does this function does what OP wanted?
