Hello,

It would help myself and others to learn scientific names if you could view them alone, or along with common names, on top of observation thumbnails on the mobile platform. It would also help folks learn what's more closely related to what, as common names can vary considerably within genera.

All the best,
Kevin

I know there's a setting for Scientific vs Common names in your account settings on the website.
Are you saying it doesn't apply those settings on the mobile app too?

Correct, it's currently only applicable for the website.

Thanks, Tony.

Kevin, I just checked on an iPhone 6 and a LG V30+.  I see only the common name when in the "all" view, but I see both the scientific name and the common name when in an observation.

I did notice a difference between them when I looked at my most recent observation, though (of a Fox Squirrel aka Sciurus Niger)
When I clicked on the observation:
  1. On the iOS device, both names are shown (common above, scientific below)
  2. On the Android device, common was listed twice (both above and below), but when I clicked the name/right arrow in the observation, it brings up the "about" page, and that displayed common name above, scientific below.

Hey Star,

I should clarify: I would like to be able to choose which names get displayed in the "all" view with all the thumbnails of one's observations.

Best,
Kevin

I would also love it if the app had a setting where I could prefer to see scientific vs. common names in the "all" view. The new setting for this on the website is great!
