Hi all,

Please could we have 3 (or more) different "fave" buttons.

The one can be to record an observation which is a favorite - as it was intended.

Another could be a reminder to return to an observation which you might want to ID at a later stage when you are back in your office with your reference books/collection.

And the 3rd could be a vote button should you be participating in an observation of the month or similar challenge, which some might people enjoy. Those who don't can just ignore this button.

Alternatively you could keep just the one fave button and allow the user to make a comment as to why they faved it.

Thank you

I agree that a expanded fave button would be useful , I don't think there is a correct/ incorrect way to use the current one.. mostly I use it to see how the community responds to a observation I find interesting,as in I am not sure enough to ID , agree or disagree, it would be nice if those were a little different than the normal .. following.. notifications. Inaturalist is awesome !!!

Good idea.
I currently use the Favorite button as a "bookmark" to make it easier to find the observation again at a later time. I would like it if the star could be different colors, the way Gmail does it.

I think three buttons might be a bit confusing. Maybe rename Favorites to Bookmarks and then add a new "Thumbs Up" / "Likes" button to be used for the more social interactions?

Four buttons would suit me.
1. FAVE - meaning it is a photo or taxa of interest to the user
2. PRO PHOTO - a grade to create a solid photo database of photos that are of professional quality.
3. FOLLOW - an observation to return to or follow the discussion about
4. NOTED OBSERVATION - intriguing organism with an excellent photo to send to the Observation of the Day/Week/Month/Year curator

There is already a follow button on the top right of every observation: https://gyazo.com/0e2e1e4a8758a39e43a36da32cf5f4e8
