I love common names, but...

Is there a way to display observations with Scientific names rather than common names?
Common names are a lyrical mnemonic, but I prefer binomials.

Go to your Account Settings and change the Names settings (uncheck 'Show common names' or check 'Show scientific names first')

correct, neither of the mobile apps have functionality to accomodate that setting at the moment, just the website

Scott,
Uniformity across platforms is extremely important for the end user, as I'm sure you are aware.
Settings are fundamental for a user in determining the parameters of their view of the data. "Selecting" a user's settings would seem to be straightforward for all platforms.
I hope this is in the development queue.
