How do I report inappropriate observations, like a user posting pictures of people?

User

indrijung

for example.

I know they are allowed, but I noticed there are a lot of people who want to know the name of many common landscaping plants posting pics, and multiple observations of the same plant. I can identify most, but it's boring work to keep answering about Liriope, a border grass for the tenth time in an hour. I guess maybe I'll just have to start ignoring those and concentrate on helping identify wild things, not sure yet. There are other sites for identifying cultivated plants, but know you guys allow it here and I do understand.

Hi Patty,

On iNaturalist inappropriate observations are defined here http://www.inaturalist.org/pages/help#inappropriate and are restricted to things like spam and offensive content.

Since many people new to iNat start by taking a picture of themselves or a potted plant, these aren't considered inappropriate. But iNat does have data-quality flags to handle observations of planted things ('Is the organism wild/naturalized?'), fossils ('Evidence of organism?') and fossils ('Recent evidence?') and also an automatic flag added to observations ID'd as humans ('Non-human?').

As for your role as an IDer - don't feel like you have to ID everything. I often skip observations of things I don't want to ID. But you do definitely add value to the site if you take the time to appropriately flag observations (e.g. planted things, obs of humans etc.), but if you get tired of doing it don't feel like you have to do it - IDing and flagging iNat data should be fun - or at least 'soothing' to those of us with compulsive tendencies like myself 'must flag every cow as captive....' ;)
