Hi iNaturalist Community,
I'll be in San Francisco on March 9-11, and March 18-22. And at the CSA conference, Raleigh, March 12-17.
(We're actually based in Australia).
I'd be keen to meet anyone who's interested in discussing ways to better integrate QG and iNat.
As you know, QuestaGame has been an experiment, largely successful, especially outside the US.
It's had high adoption and growth, measurable education outcomes, good data quality (31 citations in last few months), a sustainable model, good learnings about tech solutions, etc.
We also have some new games releasing very soon, which I'll be demoing in the US.
However, there have been issues with the iNat integration which I'm keen for QuestaGame to address asap.
Some of these issues have been fixed in our latest releases - Android is live. IOS in the next couple days.
These include:
1) No more duplicate submissions. Fixed on Android!
2) Ability for QuestaGame sightings to go directly to your own iNat account (as opposed to being lumped into a single QGame account with attribution to your name). Fixed on Android and iOS!
Left to discuss and/or implement
1) Allow communication/social channels between users from the two communities (this is Scott's suggested OATH solution, which we've been working on but yet to resolve).
2) QGame's suggested (and verified?) IDs appearing on iNat - instead of just the category (e.g. it's a bird, it's a reptile).
3) Others?
I think there are lots of ways the two systems can mutually benefit from more detailed tech integrations, discussions and collaboration.
Thanks and look forward to meeting.
Kind regards,
Andrew
