I am going to be giving a presentation to a bunch of biologists on iNaturalist and would really like to make a graph of the number of observations in iNaturalist per month from it's inception.

Does anyone have this information?

Thanks!

Jonah

Hi Jonah,

The attached image shows obs by week for the last year and a half (green is 2013 pink is 2012), you can manually use the number of obs written above each bar to create a graph

Will that work?

Scott, do you have these raw data? It would be great if I didn't have to transcribe them all.

Thanks,

Jonah

Here's a quick graph showing the number of observations on iNat per month. Pretty cool to see the exponential growth over the last year.

Yeah, I was just thinking yesterday that I used to be able to easily see every plant observation in California and New England, but lately I haven't been able to even get close.  I just had to clean out my notification list to mainly just comments and IDs so I don't miss any of those.  It's awesome though!

Following your lead, I looked at Vermont growth. We started the Vermont Atlas of Life Project in December 2012.
First I looked at the data by year and then I looked at the data by month starting in Dec - 2012 when we had a soft start of the project. It was fully announced in Jan-2013.  Cool to see serious growth!

especially considering that the 2012 Vermont observations were almost entirely me!
