Hi all,
just an heads up that thanks to the huge amount of work by all the devs
revamping the 4.0 architecture, I managed to include Tropical cyclone
support in a rather easy and painless way.
This commit [1] basically shows what you need to do to add a new hazard
type with specific classifications. And this [2] shows you how to add a
scale that can work with thresholds that can be in multiple units
Tropical cyclone support is now in InaSAFE and will be released in
version 4.0.
You can
- use continuous and classified raster hazard
- use continuous and classified polygon hazard
- use the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale (6 classes) in knots, kmh
and mph
- use the AU Buero of Metereology Tropical cyclone scale (6 classes) in
knots, kmh and mph
- use a generic high-medium-low scale
- use any of the above classes it your own thresholds (current way to
suport other 3 or 6 classes scales)
Further classifications can (and will) be added as soon as I get some
more time to work on them. It is a simple task for me once I've the
values of a scale in an spreadsheet so if you want to speed up the
process, please fill out the google sheets I prepared here
