Cymatics recently released a free plugin called DejaVu which is looking like a complete copy of HalfTime (by CableGuys). Just want to share this, halftime is really a great plugin which can convert melodies into dreamy sounds but it is not free.
Enter a world of spaced-out, slowed-down sound with HalfTime, the only plugin 100% dedicated to half-speed effects, in use by Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, members of 808 Mafia, The Chemical Brothers and more.
Just add the plugin for an instant half-speed effect with zero setup. Or go in deep with powerful creative controls. HalfTime works on loops, virtual instruments or even live audio input, inspiring you in seconds.
I spent a good few hours working on a techno/house track but was starting to fatigue and lose inspiration. With my creativity in a slump I randomly added HalfTime to the master (I've only recently bought it and have barely used it). This legend of a plugin completely changed the vibe of the song from a bouncy techno track to a grimy lofi synthwavey kind of beat. To me it sounds a bit like a slightly upbeat EARL track mixed with Com Truise or HOME song or something, and I way prefer the vibe.
Comes with 3 different speed modes which change the whole pitch of the melody, not your average pitch change settings though, halftime plugin has some crazy macro-integrated speed change control which sounds amazing! Ranging from high to mid and low, the possibilities with this plugin are endless! Download your trial plugin below, no time limit, the only downfall to the free trial is that you can only use it once in your channel effect rack.

The Cableguys HalfTime VST is one of our favorite cheap plugins. It takes any audio track and converts it into a decelerated, moodier version of itself. Use it with Arcade to create the trap/hip-hop sound heard in music by producers like Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Metro Boomin, and 808 Mafia. Alternatively, throw it into a mix for an instant Chemical Brothers-like mood.
There is a surprisingly large list of my Gross Beat alternatives that replicate this iconic plugin. The idea has be expanded to include, filters and many other effects to further mangle your sounds. The next generation uses layers of FX to create totally new sounds at the push of a button.
Melda make some of the most modern plugins on the market, supporting GUI scaling and Multi-Band versions of every single effect. MRhythmizer is possibly the closest looking and functioning to Gross Beat with the addition of filtering as a cherry on top.
Stutter Edit is a quite unique playable VST plugin by the infamous BT and developed by iZotope. It can generate incredible live remixes just by using your MIDI keyboard and a host like Ableton Live. Stutter Edit gives you glitches to the max.
Theres some tutorials out there that don't explain the topic of HalfTime correctly - here a video explaining how to achieve that Half Time sound you are looking for without any plugins the correct way.
In several team sports, matches are played in two halves. Half-time (also written halftime or half time) is the name given to the interval between the two halves of the match. Typically, after half-time, teams swap ends of the field of play in order to reduce any advantage that may be gained from wind or a slope to the playing surface, for example.
As the name suggests, the plugin creates that cinematic distant memory effect, which is a powerful tool when paired with the right visuals. Slowing or stretching time is often used in cinema during action or realization scenes when a protagonist appears to see everything clearly amid chaos or when the penny drops and they realize all is not what it seems.

Super Bowl XLIX looks to have found its halftime performer, with sources confirming to Billboard that Katy Perry will take to the stage at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on 1 February, 2015.
"Homecoming on the Kearney campus started yesterday. A concert and coronation of the Homecoming Queen took place last night in the Coliseum. The Queen and her court were selected from the 15 senior women pictured on page 3 of tonight's program. Last year's Queen, Betty Powers Quincy, now teaching bane economics at Litchfield, was on hand to help crown her successor. The 1969 Queen and her court will be presented during the halftime ceremonies tonight."
