Wedare to say that our base kitchen cabinets, with their range of heights, widths, depths and colors, fits in much any kitchen. Decide what kind of fitting you prefer in your base kitchen unit, like adjustable shelves, drawers or other smart storage solutions.
Our kitchen in this tract house has its 10' ceiling, and 36" wall cabinets, accented over the range microhood, the fridge box, and the wall oven stack with another 6" of height. Upper shelves in these cabs need a two-step stool to access the space. Not a good design, and silly storage.
I am removing a sink cabinet temporarily to demolish the tile floor under it. The cabinet is going away in about a month when new kitchen cabinets arrive, so after demolishing the floor, I need to put it back temporarily to have a functioning kitchen sink.
The hot and cold water pipes are 1/2" copper with sweated Ts for the taps for dishwasher and icemaker. The hole at the bottom of the cabinet is hard to get to due to cover but looks 1.5" in diameter. The drain pipe is cemented as shown.
What is the typical procedure for removing these fixtures to swap out the cabinets? I don't mind hacking up the back of this cabinet just so that I can easily remove and put back the existing sink but when the new cabinets arrive, I'm thinking I could heating up the reducing coupling (circled in red), cutting it across (shown in green) and peeling it from the drain pipe. Then I could remove the compression fittings on the copper Ts, Pull cabinet forward a bit to clear the drain, and lift the cabinet up, hoping the Ts will clear 1.5" hole. This would avoid me doing unsweating of those T's. Anyone has better suggestions? I have done some limited sweating (actually I added a pressure regulator to my water main and other minor jobs), so I have some experience. Should I just do that? Or since I need to put it back temporarily, should I just cut at the tees and go with Sharkbite fittings that I can remove and pit back at will?
Shut the water off to the house, drain the water from the copper lines, cut them below the Ts leaving enough for a sharkbite to grab back on, put sharkbite couplings on. For the pvc drain line I'd flush cut that to the fitting with the green line and get a furnco with a worm drive to attach them back together.
Un-sweating copper under a sink cabinet isn't a job I'd sign up for - cutting seems easier. After you have your new sink and new cabinet you'll probably want to go with new shutoffs and supplies anyway so I wouldn't be looking to keep that portion of copper. I'd convert to pex and go with 1/4 turn ball valve shutoffs - the shutoffs in your picture I find stop working, leak when turning and are harder to use. You might as well just replace this portion of plumbing the last thing you want after you get a new sink / cabinet is for old plumbing to leak and ruin it.
Shark bite fittings have an integral o ring which probably has a shorter lifespan than a sweat fitting - I only use them in exposed plumbing applications. A lot of plumbers actually use them all the time even in concealed plumbing because they are a 100 times easier than soldering.
Furncos are used in commerical plumbing all the time - this is how you join cast iron (quiet pipes, etc). They are made of some kind of flexible rubber like material again the rubber isn't likely to have the same lifespan as the cast but in exposed plumbing and under the sink I wouldn't be afraid to leave it.
When you do your final install you could leave out the furncos and sharkbites if it makes you feel better. They are more expensive than standard fittings and maybe you have another job waiting to use them.
You don't mention what type of floor you're demoing, but if you don't care about the cabinet and don't mind wrecking it, why not just take a Sawzall or a jig saw and cut the whole bottom out? Of course, you'll still need to deal with the plumbing eventually when you're ready to remove it permanently. But this way you get access to the flooring now, and when you're ready to replace the cabinet you don't need to worry about trying to keep the whole setup working. Then it's just a matter of turning off the water, cutting what ever is in the way, pulling the old one, installing the new, and reconnecting the plumbing.
For those of you who have upper cabinets over your sink area, what do you like for cabinet size? I'm trying to decide how I feel about working under a 30" cabinet, which I've never done at the sink and DW area.
I left 24.5 inches between my counter and the cabinet, and also used a shallow unit that projects 10 inches from the wall including the door. Works great for me. I actually used a regular cabinet, turned it on its side, and installed my own special hinges to hold the door open. its a great place for medicines, etc.

Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.70.84.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion, game and stuff packs except Journey to Batuu
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Place a shelf or cabinet over a kitchen sink. See if the sims washes the plate in the kitchen sink or goes to the closest bathroom sink.
What happens when the bug occurs? 99% of the time, if there is a shelf or cabinet over the kitchen sink the sim will clean up dishes and wash them in a bathroom sink. Even if the kitchen sink is closer to the table or kitchen counter where the sim was eating, the sim will walk all the way accross a room or go to an upstairs bathroom to wash the dishes instead.
What do you expect to see? Even if there is a shelf or cabinet over a kitchen sink I still expect the sim to use the kitchen sink to wash plates afer afer cleaning up.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. 11/10/20 update. Installed Snowy Escape on 11/13/20. Not sure which one caused the issue
As long as there isn'tt a shelf/cabinet over the kitchen sink there is no issue. So I end up always having to remove them if the house comes decorated that way. Or I can't decorate the way I want. It's annoying.
I can confirm the bigger cabinets will 100% prevent sims from using a sink for washing dishes if said cabinet is above the sink.
I removed all sinks but one that has a big cabinet above it, sim will no longer have the option to clean up a dish but only throw away, even though a sink is RIGHT next to her!
For easy testing, the "1 Torendi Tower Penthouse" has this setup already. If you are in the kitchen in the ground floor, the sim will refuse to use that sink for washing a dish, even if I have a dishwasher right next to it and will go to the double bathroom behind the kitchen.
Same bigger cabinets will prevent the sim from using dishwashers too.
If I use the smaller cabinets, sims have no issues.
Took me a while to find out what was the cause, the bigger cabinets.
I have found smaller cabinets (like the plates one from Country Kitchen Kit) prevent sims from washing dishes as well as larger ones. They can still wash their hands and brush their teeth, but nor the dishes. However, when I moved the cabinet just a little higher, they were able to wash dishes in the kitchen sink. I think it's all about making sure whatever cabinets you use, that you have them high enough.

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.75.125.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Everything but Dust kit, Fitness kit and Courtyard Oasis.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Have dishwasher (professional dish laborer). Have dirty dishes (which happen to be sitting on top of the cabinet that has the dishwasher when I first noticed it.).Ask the Sim to "load dishwasher."
What happens when the bug occurs? The Sim picks up the dishes from on top of the dishwasher (so it's not a routing issue), goes to the *bathroom* sink and washes the dishes. (There is also a kitchen sink which they don't use either.) I tried this several times and it happened with each thing that needed to be washed. Also when things were in other parts of the room. I tried having the dishwasher in other spots. Same thing happened.
What do you expect to see? I expect that they'd load the dishwasher since it was right in front of them.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.

Please describe the patch or change you made. New patch 1.75.125.1030. This is an entirely new save specifically made to see how the new patch works. While I've had CC (no mods), I remove the the entire mod folder (to desktop), as well as deleting the localthumbcache.package, before I do the update and start the new save.
Sim won't use dishwasher at all. The first time it happened, I thought that perhaps it was because they couldn't get to the dishwasher for some reason. So I put dirty dishes on top of the dishwasher cabinet. They could get there without any difficulty but would only pick up the dishes and take them to the bathroom. I thought this had been long ago fixed! There is even a sink in the kitchen but they also ignore that one entirely to go wash the dishes in the bathroom.
