Commando droid captains[2] were BX-series droid commandos tasked with commanding their fellow BX-series droids. The standard design of these droid captains possessed white head and chest markings.
Commando droid captains, like other commando droids, were programmed with improved combat tactics and battlefield awareness. The droids had glowing white photoreceptors, like normal commando droids, however, captains and other high-ranking commando droids bore white markings on their heads and chests.[1]
One participated in the Defense of Rishi Station. After landing in boarding ships on Rishi moon, the droid killed clone trooper Droidbait. As he entered the listening post, he shot and killed clone trooper Sergeant O'Niner, and another clone, CT-327. The remaining four clones escaped, and the captain thought they were inferior though one of the commando droids reported there were four missing clones. The droids took control of the base and replaced the alarm with an "all clear" signal. They contacted General Grievous, who instructed the captain to continue transmitting the signal. When clone troopers Cody and Rex arrived, the droids destroyed their Nu-class attack/transport shuttle. Later, the clones were able to take control of their station and destroy all the droid commandos, including the captain.[3]
One commando droid captain served at the Citadel and was present during the Battle of Lola Sayu.[5] The droids were also used by the Separatist Gungan Rish Loo on Naboo against Anakin Skywalker and Padmé Amidala,[6] and parts from commando droid captains were turned into monster droids. One monster droid and another were used with other monster droids as target practice for Death Watch, along with a commando droid captain that was still in one piece and retained its original parts.[7]
Run through the conversation options and eventually the droid will turn on the power. Ship will tell you that this extends your reach to other devices. You will also gain access to cameras that will allow you to interact with more technology around the room.
Go into the cameras (with the Cameras button in the lower left corner) With Camera #1, you can control an assembly line of droid parts. You need to use parts that are yellow to put yourself back together; white droid parts cannot be used.
Move to Camera #2 and use the Hammer. A nearby cat will be spooked and jump near the Welder. Close the Camera view and talk to the droid about the cat. The droid will try to remove the cat and move close to the Welder. Head back into the Camera #2 view and use the Welder.
Move back to Camera #1 and keep switching the parts until you get a white droid torso (it will look like a sideways lightbulb). Move that torso onto the A-Slot, and then move the recently displaced yellow torso to the B-Slot to fix yourself up.
Head to the elevator on the right to go down a level. You will run into a droid who will question you, but will ultimately let you pass. Head to the elevator on the left and go down after the questioning. Head right and then go through the door.
Switch to the droid body and have it stand outside the Dismantle room. Switch to your human body and allow droids to enter the room. Quickly switch to your droid body and have the droid enter the room.
With the droid inside the room, head to the left to find the Droid Head Removal Machine. There will be a yellow square that you should position the droid in, then switch to your human body. Have the human body press the yellow button near the machine and you will remove the head from the droid body, giving you the Droid Head.
Use the Spare Part Dispenser Panel and input the corresponding code (as you saw in the machine) to get the Fuel Cell. Then, input the number that was below the droid head to get your Droid Head back. These numbers change each time, so we can't give you the exact codes. Head back to the scientists in the Dismantle room and they will give you the Modified Fuel Cell.
To reattach the Droid Head, simply go back to the Dismantle room and reattach the Droid Head while the body is still connected to the machine. Remember to free the droid from the machine by pressing the yellow button.
After the General leaves, you must get your human body out of the disposal. Your droid body will be able to find a reset timer, but you only have 35 seconds every reset. Fortunately, you can press that reset button as many times as you need.
The B1 Battle Droid Captain first appeared after the Battle of Lothal. He and a few B1 Battle Droids exited the Core Ship owned by OOM Commander Battle Droid OOM-85. He asked where were the troopers and Trench asked the droid why they were here. The B1 Captain told Trench that Lesser sent them down so they could stop the Imperial pick-up cruiser from picking up the Stormtroopers. Trench later told the droid to contact Lesser and he did.
During the 3rd Battle of Ringo Vinda, the B1 Captain commanded OOM-85's Lucrehulk-class Command Ship since he was at the Ringo Vinda Droid Factory. He told his Driver Battle Droid underlings to let no more Venator and Victory-class Star Destroyers though the Blockade of Ringo Vinda and a Driver Battle Droid responded with the famous Standard Battle Droid line. The Executor fired all of its XX-9 heavy turbolasers commanded by Emperor Palpatine and they damaged the ring carriers of the Lucrehulk-class Droid Control Ships. The B1 Battle Droid Captain told them to fire back and all of their turbolasers and quad turbolasers fired back. Later, the B1 Captain told the Drivers they needed to pull out until the same Driver Droid told the captain that B1 Battle Droid Sergeant OM-4 was shutdown. The B1 Captain told the Driver to reactivate him and he did. After The Empire retreated, the B1 Captain and his Battle Droids were saved.
All of the parts of a Commando Droid Captain are primarily dark brown in colour. The leg piece is of the same mould most commonly used for the legs of a Super Battle Droid, and the torso and arm pieces are usually found on Battle Droids. One of the arms is bent and with a hand parallel to the body, while the other is straight and has the hand perpendicular, so that the droid can hold a blaster. A red dot is also printed on the right-hand side of the torso for a more accurate likeness to the droids. A new mould, which is shorter than a normal Battle Droid's head, was designed for the Commando Droid Captain's head. It features a printing design on the front for the droid's photoreceptors and outlining of the different bits of plating. The Commando Droid has additional white markings on its head, distinguishing it from other Commando Droids.
BX-series droid commandos were developed by the Confederacy of Independent Systems to carry out stealth assignments. These droids had infiltration software installed, and were also built to be faster, stronger, and able to take more damage than an average battle droid. Droid commandos were able to effectively use several weapons and tools, including fusioncutters, stun batons, and sniper rifles. Commando droid captains led squads of commando droids on missions. One such commando droid captain led the assault on the Rishi moon. Though the squad initially gained control, the captain and his squad were destroyed when the surviving clone troopers on the moon led a counter-assault.
