What they do: Personal training is a physically demanding job that requires both skills and knowledge to perform your duties successfully. Primarily, they are tasked with designing workout programs, helping clients meet their fitness goals, and providing guidance for safe and proper use of gym equipment.
What they do: Is this the best job in the world?! Being an ice cream tester is just as fun as it sounds. Essentially, your job is to come up with new flavors and check the quality of existing products, which involves examining the texture, smell, appearance and overall taste of every scoop.
How to become: If you have plenty of imagination and an objective palette, this could be a piece of cake (or a scoop of ice cream) for you! Meanwhile, having a background in food science and product development could elevate your career from a novice tester to a full-time professional.
What they do: Would you believe us if we told you that you could make a living as a bridesmaid? Well, you can! The role involves carrying out regular bridesmaid duties, like assisting with wedding planning, helping the bride get ready on her big day and appeasing drunken relatives.
What they do: The unrevoked nemesis of chefs and restaurateurs, food critics receive a handsome salary by tasting restaurant dishes and sharing their critique with the world. It can be one of the most competitive career paths to tap into, but the work becomes a piece of cake once you manage to build a name for yourself.
What they do: Are you usually the designated driver within your friend group? Well, the good news is that you could be earning a lucrative salary while driving other people around. Your main job will involve transporting passengers from one location to another in a safe and timely manner.
What they do: If you have an eye for detail and a love for food, then this job might be right up your alley. Food stylists work with marketers, advertisers and photographers to create food displays and video demonstrations to support product sales. This is a brilliant opportunity if you have an artistic flair and would enjoy a career in the food industry.
How to become: To find work as a cruise ship entertainer, you can go via an entertainment agency or apply directly with a cruise line. Those who stand out are invited to audition, so learn your act off by heart and go dazzle your audience!
How to become: To start, invest in good audio recording equipment to produce high-quality demos at home. Consistently attending auditions and updating your demos with your best and latest audio clips will increase your chances of impressing producers.
What they do: Professional cuddlers, also known as touch therapists, spend their days talking to, and holding hands with and hugging clients to offer them emotional support. Although far from a conventional office job, it is a real occupation that pays well: a famous cuddler, Robin Marie, has an annual salary of $40,000!
Again, the answer is that it depends! Some of the jobs listed above, like the technical writer role, do require qualifications, while others, like the voice actor role, come with no formal degree requirements. Having a strong personal brand and receiving some type of certification or training will typically set you apart from the competition, though.

I love the Gibson roll. I read about it probably here a few years ago. I bust it out once in a while. A colleague told me it looked like I spent a lot of time on it. She loves it. Lately I do the French twist a lot, though never like in these pictures, they look so neat and swoopy. Mine are twist/tuck with pins.
Would be curious to hear what people think of barrettes. I saw a woman wearing a thin tortoiseshell barrette (the wide kind, so she was basically wearing a low ponytail but with the barrette instead of a hairband), and I thought it looked nice. Does anyone else wear these? Or have any idea where I could buy a chic-looking one?

For grill cleaning: Once you've allowed the grill to cool, remove the racks from the grill and place on several layers of newspaper on a non-wood surface, such as on pavement or in a utility sink. Brush cooking rack with a stiff wire brush to remove any remaining food. Spray liberally with EASY-OFF Heavy Duty Oven & Grill Cleaner, holding the can upright pointed away from the face and from a distance of 9-12 inches. After letting the foam work for 40 minutes, wipe the grill clean with a cloth or sponge, rinsing frequently.
For oven cleaning: spray warm or cold oven from a 9-12 inches distance; allow to stand for 3-5 minutes for hot oven and 20 minutes for cold oven; wipe clean with a wet sponge, cloth or paper towel

Maybe you want to start your own cake business and know nothing. Or, you like to decorate cakes as a hobby. Maybe you want to impress your in-laws. Whatever the reason, here are your basic starting points for making your cakes more professional.
One that is the same size as the cake that goes directly on the bottom of the cake. And a second one that is at least 2 inches bigger so that I can decorate and move the cake around if I need to without messing up the bottom.
Using the back of your spatula, scoop up some frosting and smear it to the side of your cake, turning with the other hand as you go (see, tricky). Spread and coat evenly from the bottom to the top of the cake.
Start where you have the sides sticking up over the edge of the cake. Hold your spatula with a hand on each end, then, (and this is how they explained it in culinary school- legit-) go from the top over the edge from the outside of the cake to the middle. Glide your spatula over the edges as if a plane was coming in for landing.
This was purely serendipity that I found this blog because just yesterday I was talking with my mother about how I am not very good at stacking, frosting and decorating round cakes (even though I love the idea of them). These tips are definitely going to be tried as well as practiced the next time I attempt a layered cake & I am extremely excited for this. Thank-you for this post! I am saving it ^_^
Some bakers gives some sharp edges to the cake which always amazes me. I have never been able to make a perfect cake. The process you suggested is very homely for smoothening our cake. Thank you for sharing this with us sam.
These are great tips to help you design a cake that looks like it came straight from a professional cake shop. It can be difficult to get everything right for a complicated cake design, but these tips will definitely help. Great post!
Hi Sam, Love your way to make a professional cake recipe. I am not a baker but I love to try cakes and amusing by how this frosting makes them look so perfect. Your blog has simplified the process. Will surely try on this Sunday.
