A John Bean wheel alignment machine allows you to capture more revenue and increase job profitability by offering more services to your customers that take less time to complete. By utilizing the integrated audit check function, you can check the alignment on every vehicle that comes into the shop and present the results to the customer, making an upsell easier. Wheel alignment goes hand in hand with new tires and is part of the maintenance regimen for modern vehicles. Much like offering oil changes at your shop, offering wheel alignment ensures that your shop can perform a variety of high-revenue, repeatable services, along with one-off opportunities. Modern wheel aligners like those offered by John Bean allow your team to quickly perform alignment services so you can get more cars on the rack and make more money.

Modern vehicles require regular alignments to minimize tire/suspension wear, and to maintain an overall safe, secure driving experience. Quality wheel alignment machines perform alignments quickly and efficiently so you can enjoy an additional, sustainable, repeating revenue source for your shop that leads to higher levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business.

One of the most important features of modern vehicles is the inclusion of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) like lane keeping assist and emergency braking. ADAS systems rely on sensors, cameras, and other devices to maintain vehicle position in response to driver inputs. Without proper wheel alignment, ADAS systems may not react or may over react, leaving drivers at risk.

No one knows a vehicle better than the manufacturer who made it. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) approval means that a wheel alignment machine has been certified by the vehicle manufacturer to properly measure their unique vehicles to a certain level of accuracy. This third party approval ensures that the wheel alignment machine meets certain stringent requirements.

Absolutely! The alignment surface must be completely level because the machine is going to measure the caster, camber, and toe of each wheel. An uneven surface will falsely indicate the position of a wheel and the machine will indicate the need for an over correction or under correction that will lead to issues once the vehicle is out on the road.

While Caster may not be directly responsible for tire wear, it does have an effect on the overall driving feel. If the camber is not adjusted properly, the inside of the tire or outside of the tire can wear prematurely but this is typically a slow process. If the toe is off, there are very few indications (pulling, wandering, etc.) of being out of alignment but tire wear can happen very quickly. A comprehensive alignment will ensure even tire wear by properly setting the caster, camber, and toe to their factory recommended specifications.

Proper wheel alignment is always started in the rear. A properly aligned geometric centerline needs to be established (starting at the rear of the vehicle and moving forward) prior to performing any other adjustments on the wheels. This is known as thrust. All other adjustments will require that the thrust is properly adjusted, otherwise, it can throw off the other measurements and lead to an improperly aligned vehicle.

Many modern vehicles are equipped with Safety Systems such as Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) and/or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Sensors, cameras, lasers and radars that help your vehicle detect other vehicles, pedestrians and markings on the road all rely on proper alignment to function accurately. The make, model, and year of your vehicle will determine whether you need a Safety System Alignment.

Our service center is here to meet all your automotive repair and maintenance needs. This includes services vital to your Subaru's overall health and longevity like wheel alignments. You can schedule a service appointment for an alignment and understand how this service helps keep you on the road with our team in Waldorf, MD serving those around Prince Frederick, La Plata, Mechanicsville, and Hollywood, MD.

As your wheels go out of alignment, an alignment service will bring them back to their specified settings so you enjoy a smooth and efficient ride. An alignment has three components. The first is looking at the camber, which is the inward or outward angle of your tire when viewing it front the front. If it's too far in our out, it can mean your Subaru isn't properly aligned and needs to be fixed.

We'll also look at the toe, which is the inward or outward turn of the vehicle when you stand next to them and look down toward your feet. Finally, there is the caster, which is what balances the steering and cornering of your Subaru. If any of these are too far out of their specified alignment it can lead to worn ball joints and bearings and also cause the potential for even more vehicle issues that would lead to added costly repairs.

Alignments should be scheduled every 6,000 miles for most vehicles, including Subaru options. This is enough time to drive in various conditions and on roads that you will need to bring your wheels back to alignment, and keep everything working at its best. There are also some warning signs that your vehicle might need an alignment and this includes:

You can get started and schedule an appointment to get wheel alignment services here at Ourisman Subaru Waldorf you can do so by getting in touch with us by phone or schedule online. Most people think that wheel alignment is best left to the professionals. This is true in many respects, but some alignment specs are easy to checkyourself, and toe is one aspect of alignment that can be checked at home. This can come in handy after replacing steering or suspension components sothat the vehicle won't be wildly out of adjustment for the trip to thealignment shop, or at the very least provide a better understanding of thealignment process.

Toe-in
Car front tires are slightly pigeon-toed to intentionally place a veryslight load on the wheel bearings. Typical toe-in specs vary fromone-thirty-second to one-eighth-inch, depending on the vehicle. Check aservice manual for your car's acceptable range.

The best tip-off to a toe problem is a saw-tooth wear pattern that's equalon both front tires. If the tread blocks point toward the frame, thentoe-in is excessive; pointing outward indicates too much toe-out.

Toe-in spec-check and adjustment are shown in the accompanying photos.Although no specialized tools are necessary to check toe, companies such asEastwood, JC Whitney and Harbor Freight sell tools specifically for thispurpose.

Two things to remember when measuring and adjusting toe: First, true specis measured midway up the tires. If the car's body makes this impractical, take the front and rear measurements one-quarter of the way up the tires, then double that to get the true toe as it would be in the center of thetires. Also, an off-center steering wheel can sometimes be corrected byadjusting one tie-rod more than the other. (Steering wheel position has noeffect on your final alignment.)

Camber
Camber is the measurement of tire lean in degrees. If the top of the tiretilts inward, the vehicle has negative camber; outward lean is positivecamber. Most newer vehicles have slightly negative camber to improvestability and handling.

Two indicators of camber problems are the vehicle pulling to one side (theone with more positive camber or possibly less air in the tire) and uneventire wear across the tread. Camber is easy to check with an angle finderand a straight edge, ideally one that's the same length as the wheeldiameter so that tire sidewall bulge doesn't interfere with the straightedge.

Many front-wheel-drive cars don't have camber adjustments, and out-of-speccamber here often indicates bent or worn parts. On vehicles that haveadjustable camber, the job can involve adding shims between the controlarms and frame and turning cam bolts. Many people prefer to let analignment shop make these adjustments, particularly if their car hasindependent rear suspension.

A clue to caster problems is the vehicle pulling to one side (the one withless positive caster). Heavy steering and wheel hopping over bumps aresigns of too much positive caster, and light steering but excessive wanderare clues of too much negative caster. Aligning to spec usually involvesrepairing or replacing chassis parts, so the average motorist is probablybetter off leaving caster corrections to the pros.
