After I updated to iOS 17 my alarm stopped making noise too. I fixed it by disabling the standby feature. It installed default On. I noticed that when I picked up my phone in the morning (after using a normal alarm clock because I stopped replying on my iPhone) this odd screen showed up including a little red bell.
Same problem. I just switched from android to IPhone 15 Pro. I happend to me twice. My morning alarm was silent. No vibrations. But the alarm was showing on the screen. volume levels are fine. it happen Only for morning alarms. Other alarms work fine.
Most fixes work, but only for about 1-2 weeks. If it similar to my phone after that it starts to miss an alarm now and then or just sound one or two notes then turn off then slowly stops working again.
Happened to me this morning. Lockscreen shows alarms are off, even tho I have multiple alarms on weekdays... Woke up one hour late. Seems like the iPhone is not reliable anymore. Turning off and on iPhone does not help. iOS 17.1.1
The alarm and ringer volume is only independent of the side volume buttons when in Settings > Sounds & Haptic the "Change with Buttons" option is turned OFF. Make sure this is turned off, and then adjust the volume to maximum with the slider above. Then do a forced re-start:
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. To get started, do you have an alarm set up using a sleep schedule, or do you have the alarm set up in the Clock app? If using a sleep schedule, although we understand the the Ringer & Alert volume is turned up, let's ensure that the alarm volume is turned up with the steps shown here: Set an alarm on iPhone - Apple Support
A real world example of the scenario could sound like this: I am a user using Safari on my iPhone. I tap a button on the site I am visiting that reads "Set Alarm for 9:36 AM". My iPhone switches out of Safari and into the native alarm app's "Add Alarm" function with 9:36 AM as the default value.
If you're okay with calendar events, you could just create an ical file (How do I create an iCal-type .ics file that can be downloaded by other users?) and set up a link there (Set alarm). The ical file can then be set to play a signal (reminder). When the user clicks the link on his/her iDevice/Mac, iCal will open and the user will just have to tap save and it's done.
New iPhone user here. I need to use a wake up alarm and want the phone off at night but that will not work. Is the a setting to allow the alarm to go off if the phone is off? My Samsung phone alarm worked that way.
Hi. It doesn't anymore - on iPhone7 Plus. :( I just tried it. I've known that the alarm doesn't go off when it's powered off since I bought this because I tried to do that when I charged it. I set an alarm so that it wouldn't be overcharged and I powered it off because it was the best way to charge a mobile, I was told. But the alarm didn't go off. I just thought I'd check on the web about this to make sure I was right that's why I had to try it again. And it's confirmed. It doesn't go off when it's powered off. At least, not on the new iPhone. Bummer.
OK, so this thread has a long discussion about what is meant by "powered off". If you mean you press down on the Sleep/Wake button until the Slide to Power Off comes up on the Home screen, and then you slide it, then in that state the alarm didn't go off in 2013, and it still doesn't.
The device cannot be overcharged, so you don't need to set any alarm for that reason. I have iPhones that stay on a charger for several days. My iPad pretty much is always hooked up to the charger. They absolutely cannot be overcharged.
Yes, the alarm will go off regardless of whether the phone is off or not (with all due respect to my friend Ocean). For an alarm clock, I use my iPhone exclusively. I normally don't actually turn it "off" using the Power button, but I just tested it, and whether you let it go to sleep on its own, or you turn it off via the Power button, it will go off.
Gail I thought the OP meant OFF as in off and not just asleep. If the phone is completely off the alarm doesnt sound but in sleep mode it does of course......Did you realise that today we can talk about jailbreaking on this forum? Jailbreaking as in Bastille Day and as in the ACDC song?
I just set the alarm for 3:05 pm and turned the phone off using the power button and the off slider at 3:04 pm waited until 3:07 pm and the alarm didn't sound. When I turned my phone on at 3:08 pm as it came on the alarm sounded then. hmmmmmm
I keep on waking up so late and having to miss days off school because my alarm will go off but won't make any sound and then I would eventually wake up by myself when I should've been in school 2 hours before and my alarm is just on the screen but not making sound and so obviously it didn't wake me up.
This is very annoying as I really hate having to take a day off school because not being up in time. For example my school starts at 8:30 and so I planned to get up at 5:00 to wash my hair and get makeup done and that so I would have plenty of time to get ready but as it turns out, my alarm decided not to make sound and so I ended up waking up at 8:20 so I cannot wash my hair and do makeup which would take 2 hours and then walk to school because I would get there at 10:30 which is halfway through the day and this has happened more than once and it is extremely frustrating.
If all settings are correct but your iPhone alarm still won't make any sound, try to reset all settings in Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Then restart your iPhone and create new alarms.
I have the exact same issue. Music downloaded on my device plays but other music in my library will not. It used to work fine as long as I had a wifi connection (my music library is all on my phone via icloud). The song plays when I set up the alarm but not when it goes off. I don't see a solution except to ensure the songs I want to use for alarms are actually downloaded onto my phone.
this is happening with both of our iPhone 7 alarms. We're getting radar no matter what we choose. I usually just use a different ring tone, and my husband uses music. I've installed the update, and still get radar. Sorry i don't have a fix.
Hi, I just found a way to play your music for an alarm, I when to my music hit on my songs, all my songs that had the cloud icon were not in my phone so I could not uses them as alarms, all I had to do was hit the cloud icon and it downloaded into my phone, how I can use that song for an alarm ??, try it c if it works for u, take care
Same exact issue on my iPhone X and nothing seems to fix it. I can't figure out how to delete and re-download my purchased tones. I can at least get rid of that awful radar tone by switching to built in ringtones for an alarm, but none that I've paid for.
I have an alarm that goes off every weekday morning at 6:28 even though I have deleted it. It isnt a regular alarm that last until you stop it. Its seconds long and stops, but enough to wake me. It started on my Iphone7 and has transferred to my 13 now
Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. Our recommendation is to delete any existing alarms that's in the Clock app. Even if the alarms are turned off, we suggest having it deleted. From there, test and see if the alarm continues to activate at 6:28 in the morning. To easily delete all of your alarms in a timely fashion, you can say, "Hey Siri, delete all of my alarms."
The shortcut will loop through all your alarms and will create a list of the alarms that are enabled. It will only grab the first and last alarm set. If no alarm is set it will turn the input boolean off.
In my case I wanted my home to do some wild stuff to improve alarm effectiveness. I added an input_button to HA and created an automation in shortcuts with the following configuration:
When: When the alarm is activated
Action:
Dictionary: entity_id: input_button.alarm_clock
Home Assistant Call input_button.press with data dictionary.
I then trigger my HA automations when the input_button is pressed, and only stop the house madness when I manually turn on a light in the kitchen
2x type Date and/or time. Here your iOS shortcut will publish the time value of your alarms to. Like above, convenient naming for these two would be first_alarm_example and last_alarm_example.
Now you can run your iOS shortcut. By clicking on your created helper you should be able to see the values coming in. Works like a charm for me! Thanks @Milofow for this

I have the exact same error at the same spot. All my settings are by your default names and the Dictonary just says entity_id and then the 2 items are:
input_datetime.first_alarm_example and input_boolean.alarm_example
I have just bought the above iphone and noticed that the alarm suddenly went silent, Settings for ringer or volume won't fix the silent alarm. After trying many things I found that the only wy to get the alarm to sound again was to go into Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ring / Silent Mode Switch.
