The dragons featured in Makin' Magic and Realm of Magic are based on four-legged European dragons, while the dragons featured in Dragon Valley are based on two-legged Wyverns. Dragons also appear in the intro of The Sims Medieval, although they are only mentioned in-game
Dragons are hatched from Dragon Eggs, which can be purchased from Vicki Vampiress in Magic Town for 49 MagiCoins. Vicki's cart also sells dragon treats and toys as well, which are needed to care for the dragon. There is no limit on how many dragons can be owned by a family.
There are a number of benefits to having a dragon over standard pets. When groomed they may drop Dragon Scales, and when tickled they may drop Dragon Tears, both of which are valuable magic ingredients for spell and charm making. They also have few motives, and are able to mostly care for themselves with a little provision. The one downside is that they are very dangerous pets, able to start fires and potentially kill Sims.
Upon purchasing a dragon egg, Sims will place it on the lot and can interact with it. They can cradle the egg, rotate it, or play music to it. After 36-48 hours the egg will hatch, and the dragon that will emerge depends on how many times Sims interact with the egg.
Dragons have few motives: Hunger, Fun and Energy. They will never need to urinate or bathe, and don't require comfort. There is no way to view their motives, but they will display thought bubbles when in need of attention.
Dragons eat spoiled food, trash, pet food, and primarily flowers, particularly yellow daffodils. When flowers are eaten the object will be deleted and will need to be replaced. Toads are a special dragon delicacy, so caution must be exercised when using the Toadification spell as a Sim who is turned into a toad and eaten by a dragon will die instantly.
Sims should interact with their dragon frequently and restock on dragon treats and toys from Magic Town. Besides torching various items around a lot, dragons can torch visiting Sims as well, resulting in the death of the victim.
Dragons return as interactive small pets that can hatch from dragon eggs. A dragon egg can be purchased in buy mode for 395. There are four types of dragon: green, purple, red, and armored black. Each dragon will give a special moodlet when Sims hold them, which will increase certain motives: energy and hygiene for red dragons, hunger and bladder for green dragons, fun and social for purple dragons, and energy and hunger for armored black dragons.
A green dragon is a dragon that hoards and protects treasures. It also helps Sims with gardening. A purple dragon is a dragon of sunshine and happiness that also loves to socialize and party. A red dragon is a fearless and aggressive dragon that can torch the enemies of Sims and singe them. The armored black dragon is a mysterious dragon. It has the ability to transform Sims into zombies,[TS3:SN] summon ghosts, and reward the Sim with a death flower. The armored black dragon is only available if The Duke of Bows Renaissance Faire Venue, which can be downloaded separately, is also installed.[1][2]
The chances of hatching a particular type of dragon can be increased by using certain interactions while it's still an egg. "Gossip About Love of Fire" interaction increases the chance of getting a red dragon, "Talk About Friends" for a purple dragon, "Talk About Weather" for a green dragon, and "Converse about Existentialism" for an armored black dragon.
Dragons can only be attained in a limited time which is set when the quest Book of Spells is activated, then on users have 1 week to complete the quest in order to obtain the option to buy a dragon, if missing the offer users will complete the quest but cannot gain the dragon therefore. However, if users reset the game they can do the quest and try to complete within given time and try again.
Hi so I bought Dragon Valley and it didn't download automatically. I have no idea why it didn't do that and how to fix it. I keep trying to find a way to download it but am finding nothing. It is not showing up in Expansions and Stuff in the launcher even though it says I own the add-on. I googled it, not finding much but I read that I could try uninstalling the Sims 3 and then select Dragon Valley in the list of available add-ons to download. So I did that, only for Dragon Valley to NOT be in the list! I am so frustrated and confused. I went back to google after reinstalling the game and read that I had to register my game on TheSims3.com. I eventually found the product key, which I put into the boxes, and it said there was some kind of error. I am at a loss and would appreciate some help! Thanks so much.
Did you originally try redeeming your code for Dragon Valley through Origin or the EA App first? These World codes do need to be redeemed on TheSims3.com, so if you used the code in Origin or the EA App instead, that code would now be invalid. You can find more information on how to redeem the codes for Worlds in the guide here.
Live support can get a refund processed for you if the code is no longer valid- a refund for this World isn't something we can process for you here on AHQ as we don't have access to your account details. Please reach out to live support through Twitter or Facebook, if you run into any issues getting in touch with live support there, please be sure to let me know!
Live support will need to take a look at this with you if you're getting an error when trying to redeem the code on TheSims3.com. Please go ahead and reach out to the team so they can review the code with you and get a refund processed if necessary.
@chichislayer If you bought Dragon Valley through EA or Thesims3.com store you don't get a code. If you go into thesims3,com store Dragon Valley should no longer say buy but should say download. It should also appear in the purchase history where it can be downloaded. If your using the new EA app there is an option open downloads dashboard. - this is where you'll find all your store stuff if using the EA app. There should be a button download. Dragon Valley will download and install if using the new EA app. If your using Origin Dragon Valley will download to the launcher downloads tab where you need to install it from there. Be aware that there are issues with store items staying installed if you are using Origin. If you are using the EA and checking add-ons Dragon Valley icon should say owned. Let us know if your having a problem.
Sign into the site with the same email address and password that you use to sign into the EA App. Then register the product code you received when you bought Dragon Valley: scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Redeem a Code, then enter that code.
Hi! So I purchased Dragon Valley for The Sims 3 through the EA app last night but it didn't show up in my game. I've tried everything - it says it's downloaded on the EA app, but doesn't show up in launcher. I've looked around the launcher, main menu, repaired the game on the EA app, looked around the game files, nothing. I know its supposed to show up as an object to download in the game launcher but nothing's there. It's annoying that I've paid 15 for a game that I can't seem to even access at the moment and if I truly can't get it to work I'd like to know how to get a refund atleast.
Sign in with the same email address and password you use in the EA App, scroll down to the bottom of the page, click Redeem a Code, and enter the code for Dragon Valley. You should then be able to download it from your purchase history (Store > My Store Account > Purchase History) or from its product page:
Thank you so much for your response. So quick and simple but wasn't obvious to me at first - I haven't downloaded any sims 3 content through the EA app before so I assumed it worked the same way or similar to downloading sims 3 or sims 4 content from Origin. Didn't think I needed to check the email for a code either! Followed your instructions and it's all working perfectly now, thank you
@puzzlezaddictI've tried to download from my purchase history. EA app also shows I own this game. When I pull up my launcher. It is not there. I've also reinstalled The Sims 3 game before and lost a lot, but it still did not work when i reinstalled everything and my packages. I 'm trying to download the super-patcher now, even though I already have an updated version of my game. This is frustrating. Second time purchasing Dragon Valley and it still doesn't work.
Does Dragon Valley show as owned on its store page or in your purcahse history (Store > My Store Account > Purchase History)? Please check both places: I've had worlds show up in one but not the other. If DV does show up as owned, what happens when you try to download it? If you get an error, please either post a screenshot or write out the entire text.
Sometimes there can be an issue with these world codes being auto-consumed on purchase, which makes them unusable on TheSims3.com. In this case, live support can issue a refund for this purchase since you're not able to use the code. Here on the forums, we aren't able to process a refund for you as we don't have access to your account details, but the live support team can take a look with you and get a refund processed for this purchase.
