Our Bottom Siders cockpit cushions have been fantastic for over 20 years but the coating is beginning to split in a few spots, creating an esthetic problem. The website seems to be gone and a number of negative postings, primarily concerning business practices from the early 2000's are all I can find online. We're looking for sources of new cushions, preferably the same as the BSers. Thanks for any help.

Last I was able to learn about Bottlmsiders was that the business was for sale.

I was looking for a repair kit. When I did not get a response from Bottomsiders I contacted C-Cushions. They were very helpful and provided a repair kit and instructions on how to blend the colours so they would match my cushions.

Check out their website. The products look similar to the Bottomsiders.

You could also consider covering you existing cushions with Sunbrella.

I ordered a set of these a few years ago and while we find them comfortable, the PVC skin on them is not durable and we’ve had a number of punctures and small tears. Ours are white and they are very hard to keep clean. Last year I had mesh cushions (beige) made for them and now they are bullet proof. There is absolutely nothing there to rot or corrode so I  leave them in the cockpit all season.

Thanks Mark. I'm looking into C-Cushions. They do look very similar.

Thanks Greg,
I’ve thought about covering the BSers. I’m not sure what you mean by the mesh cushions you had made. Sunbrella type covers to fit around the BSers? Phil

Hi Philip, and y’all
I should have said mesh ‘covers' not ‘cushions’. I had an upholsterer make cover for my Bottomsiders from open vinyl mes fabric (can’t recall the brand name now), so there is nothing to hold moisture (the cushions themselves are closed cel foam covered in PVC). The mesh looks like a woven product although I believe it is cast. I did not want to use Sunbrella or anything else that could hold moisture.

Cheers,

Our closed cell cockpit cushions (not vinyl coated) are covered in a similar fabric which, after many years, has deteriorated to the point they need replacement. We really like the fabric. It is comfortable to sit on, fast drying and easy to clean. I have done some online research and believe the material is Phifertex or something very similar. Here is a link to Phifer's products: http://www.phifer.com/product/designed-fabrics/phifertex/
