Every time I have talked about moving to Discourse, I have mentioned that you can still use email. It's time to move on from that and look at what we are gaining. One of those many things is the phone app.

By now, hopefully, everyone has at least taken a look at the web site at:

but you haven't seen the phone app. It is basically Discourse, with all content and most features, shoehorned into the small screen. So, vou have access to everything while you're stuck in the waiting room, or have a few minutes and want to see what's up:

This is in sync with the web page, so you'll see what's new since your last visit to either place. Just like the web page, it lets you switch to different views, such as by Category:

And with a click you can browse a category - like Upgrades and Great Ideas -  to get back to something that looked interesting:

By clicking on the "hamburger stack" (the three horizontal lines to the left of your picture in the top right), you open up a column of choices like the one that appears on the left side of the web page.  In Discourse, in addition to a Category, we can TAG a posting by content. The column shows you active tags (a little way down):

Pick a tag, like Rigging and see the related topics:

In all of the cases above, when you click on a topic, you get the full thread:

If you want to know more about the person posting, click on their picture and you get their info "card":

From there, you can contact them privately by clicking on the envelope and sending them a message.  The person receiving the message will get a little envelope in the top right corner, and when they click on that, they will see their messages (pretty much just like any messaging app):

So if you really want, you can just do email. But if you can use a phone app, you can get Discourse, with as many of the features as you want, from wherever you are.
