Hello All,
I have read the instructions on the Maintenance section of the INA and also searched conversations.  Using the Maintenance instructions on dropping the keel I saw there is a difference between loosening my quadrant to drop the rudder and the one in the instructions.
So if anyone has what I describe below I'm looking for advice and confirmation of procedures.

I have 4 bolts that screw into the quadrant at the rudder shaft and 2 bolts and nuts on the outer edge of the quadrant.  The instructions only had 4 nuts and bolts to loosen.

1. So if I loosen the 4 bolts do I also have to loosen the 2 outer edge nuts and bolts as well?
2. All the bolts and the nuts and bolts basically hold the 2 halves of the quadrant together.  If I loosen them all to allow the shaft to slide down, will the quadrant stay together or do I have to remove the cables to make sure the pull from the cables (if there is any) doesn't fully separate the 2 halves.

I don't want to make a bigger problem by doing something wrong so would appreciate any advice.

Thank you,
David Godfrey

Hi David, the only bolts that need to be loosened are the ones that clamp the quadrant to the rudder post. That way the quadrant halves don't separate. Also the cables do not need to be touched. Remember that there's a key you need to keep track of as this stops the quadrant from rotating on the rudder post once everything is reassembled.
