Hello All,
My first time posting here.  In the process of replacing the cabin sole of my 84 Nonsuch Ultra I removed the salon table and realized how much more spacious it is without it.  I'm on the hard in Sparrow's Point at Old Bay Marina just outside of Baltimore.  I'm hoping to give it away to someone who can come pick it up sometime in the next week.  It's the original table which "kneels" forward to form a double bed.  The top of the table shows some wear (I've posted photos of the top in the INA "Market Place" with this same message or you can email me and I'll gladly send you them.)  I believe the wear is superficial and refinishing would yield a beautiful table top.  Other than that it's complete and in great shape.  Any takers?

I would like to suggest you not get rid of the salon table.  What I did was remove the bottom portion and install a metal pedestal post that is often used in marine chairs.  The rationale is it can still be used as a table and bed and a new owner will very likely want it.  Store the kneeling portion in your basement or use it for spare teak wood.  I’m going to the boat tomorrow and will try to remember to take some pictures for you.

I second Ray's suggestion - especially regarding what many owners would consider a "must have". The day that we purchase our boat is the same day that we (should) begin to think of how much we will get when we must/want to sell it. I can say, with certainty, that some prospective buyers will be absolutely turned off when told that the boat has no salon table. Find a nook in your basement and put it into a large garbage bag. Don't get rid of it.

Thank you for the good council not to get rid of the table.  I recently sold my house and am living aboard such that storing the table presented a challenge.  After reading your comments and considering the point of view of a future buyer I've made arrangements for storage in a friend's basement.  So the table is no longer available.  Sorry to anyone who might be disappointed.  Thank you again.

Has anyone else thought of mounting the original top to the "Kneeling" table on a Lagun pedestal?

I didn’t like the big table either but I kept the kneeling element. I just reduced the size by cutting one of the leaves in half and hinging it. It now makes a good “coffee table” with great aft end access or a decent small dinner table with okay access from both ends.

You may want to consider what I’ve done which is to have it fold up onto the bulkhead.  It gives me the best of both worlds including a liquor cabinet.

Our table has been removed and is now mounted on a sliding hinge on the salon side of the head wall. We love the extra space when it folds up. I too concur with Ray and Ernie. I would love to have the table assembly “in stock” however for future consideration.

Hello Bob,
I replaced the cabin sole using 2 sheets, of 18 mm X 4'x8',  teak and holly veneered plywood from Harbor Sales in Sudlersville on the Eastern Shore.  They charge $450/sheet and they deliver for a nominal $6 fuel fee.  I'll put a couple coats, top, bottom and sides of West System 105/207 and then a couple of coats on top of oil based polyurethane.  My existing sole was in good enough shape to use as templates with a flush trim router bit and then a half inch round over bit nicely creates the half bull nose round edge along much of the bottom edges.
Hope your bottom job goes well.
