The knotmeter in my boat hasn't worked since I bought it last year.  A couple of times I have gotten the display to read out by spinning the paddle wheel by hand...but not consistently.  Can anyone point me to directions for locating the source of the problem and how to fix it?  Thanks for your help.

Hi Jim- Good to see you and Martha last weekend. Datamarine repairs are
being competently handled by DMI Marine on Cape Cod. The link is below.
Ask for Steve and tell him your problem. I'm sure he'll recognize it
right away and hopefully they will be able to take care of it. Let me
know. My Datamarine AWI (apparent wind indicator) stopped registering on
the readout this season. He instructed me to have the mast head unit
unplugged and sent to DMI and they will repair it. He says it's familiar
and very likely a repairable problem. Pretty good for a unit that's more
than 20 years old! When I bring POLARIS to Jabins for winter haul-out,
end of October, Collin will remove the AWI while the boat is still in
the water.

DMI Marine Inc at 18 Commerce Park Rd, Pocasset, MA 02559, 505-564-7491 are
great people to work with. I live two miles from them and they are the
repair experts on Datamarine instruments. My 1989 (#249) N26C had an
intermittent knot meter that finally quit. SN 055211, Datamarine Corinthian
Series S100KL. After inspecting and seeing the corrosion, and play in the
transducer bearing I decided to buy a replacement transducer (SX-120, Speed
Core - $130), a male MBNC for $6.09 which I did not use, but put it in my
spare parts container, and a 30 foot Interconnect (PN 07004) for $35. Total
with tax was $181.69. Very satisfied now. My boatyard while installing did
not want to oversize the hole through the wood below the instrument so they
cut off and then reinstalled the connecter end. Datamarine will tell you
that knot meters do not have a specific length required while depth meters
do have a length to transducer specification requirement. Regards, Bob

John and Bob,
Many thanks for the tip. This weekend I'll get the model/SN information
off of the equipment and give DMI a call on Monday.
