Julie Marie and co arrived in Luperon , Dominican republic yesterday after a 22 hour sail fromSamana ( averaging 6.1 knots, which is a best speed average yet for the boat) .
There is one other Nonsuch in the bay,, a NS33  with carbon mast and boom but completely delilict. Apparently it’s been abandoned for 7 years, nice to have a look around, still could be saved perhaps,it hasent been looted yet. Mast looks in good condition.

Simon,
Is your NS #423 also a NS33?
I’m guessing N30U.
Nice opportunity for someone in the vicinity.

No, mine is a NS30 ultra, I’ve been in touch with the owner to see if he may want to sell it, but it’s not worth much in my opinion.

If it's a 33 with a carbon mast and boom, then it may be a 354. Not that it's all that important, but my 2023 Nonsuch Registry arrived yesterday.  There are two 354s listed without owner's name, and there is a gap in the sail numbers for the listed boats.  #s 78 and 79 are missing.  If someone can look at the HIN number on the starboard stern, maybe we can figure it out.  If the first number after the 4 letters is a 5, it's a 354.  The next 3 numbers are the sail number then the year of manufacture.

Barry,

Greetings from #72. This is the first that I have heard there were more than 7 made. I thought they ended at 77. Be very interesting to find out if there were more…

You also prompted me to include my vessel number in my signature each time 😊

Thanks for the response.  When you get your 2023 Nonsuch registry you can see what I was talking about.  There are  two 33s that are in the 354 listing.  Their HIN number says they are actually 354s.  Page 27 of the new registry explains the hull numbering system.

If you blow up the second photo showing the stern. It looks like there are is no HIN number on the starboard corner. Actually it looks like the numbers may have been rubbed out.

Also the outboard bracket on the stern does not bode well for the condition of the diesel engine being in great shape.

I can't speak to that. Someone needs to go see.  You really can't read my HIN either unless you get up close to it.

Paint pealing off the mast and boom. They are toast. Outboard lift, engine is toast.  No sails - rigging.  Looks like it was beached at some point?

Sad ending

nobody has time enough to take on that project considering location and possible water damage. 7 years, stay away

The numeral  5 after the four letters indicates a 33 or a 354. A search of the directory indicates there are several 33s that are not listed as well as a couple of 354s. The style of the mooring chocks look more like the ones on the 33 as do the wooden grab rails. However in the photo gallery, 354 Kiahuna, is shown with wooden grab rails. The carbon mast and boom suggest a 354. Without more info we are left engaging in fun speculation.

If the hull, deck and cabin top are in good condition and you could get clear title to it for a $1  you could the put in about $170,000.00 and have yourself a boat.

An ad shows up periodically on Yacht Wokrd for a 354 in Turkey formerly called Bona Dea. She is listed for around $70,000.00 USD. I don’t know what it would cost to get shipped back to North America.

When I look at the bank account my 26 keeps looking pretty nice.

In februari 2019, we spotted this Nonsuch while we were in Luperon (Dominican Republic). I briefly considered tracking down the owner but we were on our way to get N36#25. Two hurricane damaged Nonsuches is a little to much...

I had to dig in my archive to find them but here are the pictures, including a HIN photo. Enjoy!

Thanks for the photos. The boat is still floating pretty good. Would be a shame to lose it from the fleet. Hope someone can rescue and rehab it before it is totally lost.

Mark,
good to see you back posting on the group. I figured you were too busy working on your two boats (Roller Coaster Ride and the motorsailer). Hope the work is progressing nicely.

The HIN makes it look like a 33, hull #57, previously unknown to the INA.

Hi Barry
I think it was number 57, and not sure if it was a 352, I was in contact with the owner, even made him a low offer, but this was not accepted.
Cheers

Hi Mike, there is definitely a HIN
Number there, I can take a photo of it to solve the mystery.

Yes, apparently she fell out of here stands while in the yard, so a cheap hull repair was done, so she needs a lot of work..
