Strong Track Installation

Has anyone installed with mast up, I was able to do this on a C&C 44 but the sail track was 4 feet from deck level, my thought was that the sail track on the Nonsuch 33 is to low to the deck to be able to bend the strong track and push up the track.

Hi

We installed one on our N26 with mast up, fed the track though the
front forward port "window".

Note: There was a stop at the top of the old track that had to be
removed, so you're likely to have to crank someone up the mast.
You should be able to check that with binoculars.

Feed the coiled Strong Track up through the port facing the mast in the forward cabin.

My sailmaker installed mine a couple of years ago. They did not think they would have to do that, but eventually conceded and installed it that way without problems.

While I installed mine on the horizontal, I am told that others

have done it mast up by going out through the forward port.

Two person job.

 

I installed a gate in mine as shouwn on main Nonsuch web site

underWindlass.  Makes loading the sail on installation  very easy.

Can also load a storm trisail  above the furled mainsail if the

gate is high enough.

I installed Strong track on our 30U by myself with the mast up.  Did all of the work from the deck at the mast.  Was no big deal.  Be careful with how you clip the cable ties on the track so you keep control.  Once you get it started, haul it up with the halyard while you push the track towards the mast with a foot.  Took a surprisingly small amount of time.

I also helped with the installation on a 36, which turned into a problem because the track was too long and we needed to pull it down and had the monsterously long track flopping over the stern, cut and drill the track, and haul it back up.  While there were three of us doing the work (including Botts), it was still a hassle.  We did that installation also from the deck.

Installed on my N 22 48 Blueberry in minutes. The 22 has no fwd port, nor did one seem needed.

The Tides Marine SailmTrack system was one of the best improvements imaginable for my Nonsuch.

I installed mine, mast up.  But on a 22 so distance and coiled track was much less.

I did have a lot of trouble with the last 18 inches of track.  In retrospect should have lubed it really well!

Fallback solution was to tip a REALLY HUGE dock guy to manhandle it up the last foot and a half.

 This may be a naive question, but how does the Strongtrack or any other device stay up the mast once it's been installed?

Mine has a fitting that is attached to the bottom end of the permanent track, just above the tack fitting. I believe it comes with the track, or can be purchased with the track.

I thought I posted a message but only my name showed up.  Anyway, my question is: After installing the Strong Track, what keeps it in place?  Obviously I've never worked with it but is a question that keeps bugging me.

Mine has one screw through the track and into the mast to keep it in place.
