i would like to receive the manual or blowups for this toilet.
we own a 1981 nonsuch 26c with a solid and original metal crittendon-
wilcox head.

it has been great for many years.
but lately it is not inhaling or sucking up any water in the intake hose.
the exit of the water is successfully pumped out but we can't get any
fresh water into the toilet (except by pouring it from a bucket).

we have some replacement parts in our took kit but before we take anything
apart, we would like to have some blow up or exploded diagrams.
are they available on the web ?

thank you

Ken:
Lots of old stuff on these boats...I replaced mine with a new one that seems to work fine. Replaced with a Jabsco unit that was cheap and modular so that should a problem occur the part can be replaced. The W/C head is pretty much outta date and might require many rebuilds. Do you want to do that?

Try this site for manuals.

The manual is for the Skipper but is similar to the Imperial. Check
Defender's Marine for the best price for re- build kits.

Ken,
I rebuilt mine last year.
Worked fine last year.
Now it is like yours, blows great, won't suck.
We presently use our shower nozzle to prime it, very effective for keeping bowl clean, and smells better overall than saltwater flush.
(Here in Halifax the water sucked in is often pretty nasty to begin with)
Run a rubber hose from your sink tap if you have no shower, use a bucket if you have no tap, but for the love of God do not take that thing apart. My two cents.

Bruce:

Good point! A little reminder for those boats on salt water. Always a good idea to run some fresh water through the head before you close the boat up and leave. It really cuts down on odors when re-board again. Because you don't have the any saltwater organisms that die in the bowl  creating sulfur compounds.

Hi Ken, there is a small vertical S shaped rod attached to the foot pedal. The top end of this rod is attached to a lever which is attached to a shaft by a bolt. The bolt is in behind so it's not visible. When the shaft rotates it opens the valve to let water in. I'm almost certain that tightening this bolt will solve your problem.

crittendon wilcox head : manual in pdf format

If it is not yet on the INA website,
perhaps it should be there, or
a link to it should be there.

I have already sent the PDF file of the Owner's Manual for the Wilcox Crittenden Junior 51 & Imperial 51 Marine toilets
off to Dave Smith to post on the INA website.

We just add fresh water from the sink when we use the Crittenden head. It does not smell at all. I bought the rebuild kit and when I saw the "five thousand" parts in the bag I hired my mechanic to do the job. He pulled the toilet, acid washed it and replaced all the parts and painted the painted parts. Cost about $150 plus the rebuild kit. He only had to use a few parts. It was worth the effort because  they are good marine toilets. Mine was original with the boat and it apparently had never been serviced.

You're right, they are great heads.  However for less then that you could have a brand new, modern one which are simpler and cheaper to rebuild.
