OD size of the tube shaft thruhull in the engine compartment Nonsuch 30?

I'm away from the boat and can't get a measurement right now to fit a new stuffing box.

Anyone happen to know the OD of the shaft thruhull tube so I can find the right diameter stuffing box tube?

You're correct as I found this in the online manual for a 1981 Nonsuch 30 Classic before posting. My manual is on board my boat and is for a 1986 Ultra.  There may be an updated version but this is all I could find or I missed something else in the manual.

My Volvo Penta which fit on my boat was a 25mm Shaft going to a 45mm thru FRP hull connection (about 1.65 inches). This shows a 2" hose connected between the FRP and the stuffing box but doesn't give the dimension of the FRP thru Tube molded into the hull.  It's the FRP thru Tube that is in question.

The 25th page of the online version of the manual says to use a 2" neoprene hose to connect the stern tube and stuffing box.

Posted the previous before seeing your clarification, Bill.

It saves everyone time if questions include boat info and location.

All the boats' manuals, including both the N30 Classic and the N30 Ultra, are on-line under MEMBERS - MANUALS at www.Nonsuch.org.   

Folks might want to download a copy of theirs -- it's a useful backup for situations when one can't get to the boat.

The N30 Ultra manual has the drawing on its page 38.  It calls for a 1.75" neoprene hose.

For both boats, I'd think it's safe to assume that the stuffing box and shaft logs have identical diameters since the hose diameter's the same at both ends.

I believe that the OD of the tube is 2” as described which would use a 2” hose.

I did see this in the manual; however, it didn't seem 'right' as it talked about a 2" tube. I got a 25mm(Shaft) to 45mm (Tube) to fit on the thru hull. 45mm = about 1.65 inches.

I could have missed something or the design changed from 1981 to the 1986 Ultra.

I recently had  my PSS shaft seal serviced. The service kit I used was for a 1.75" tube, with a 1" shaft, on my 1987 30 Ultra.

I replaced my hose last year with a 1-3/4" hose from Hamilton Marine. Here's a link https://shop.hamiltonmarine.com/products/buck-algonquin--hose-for-packing-boxes-heavy-duty-43012.html to there listing which says use the 1-3/4" hose for a 1" shaft.. My shaft is 1" diameter.

Thanks all for your help and suggestions.

I found a second stuffing box diagram specifically for the 30 Ultra. It's not dated BUT does show that the Ultra does use a 1-3/4" hose.  Since I'm #358 and Summer Song is #335, I'm confident that the hose size was reduced from 2" in 1981.

Attached is the page from the 30-U manual.

Should get my new stuffing box today (a buck-algonquin)!!!!
