Hi, My name is Pam Sorenson. I live in Woodinville Heights. I love to walk in my
neighborhood, and all over town. I have recently learned that the property at the top of our hill
(Halsey/Draughn) is on a list that has kept it forested and the ground undisturbed but that it
might fall off this list. The idea that more development might happen up there scares me
because we have so much water rolling down the hill already. Any more development would
make this even worse. We need to prevent this from happening. Our houses are flooding
now.
So instead, let's leave it undeveloped and open it up for public enjoyment.
I know that the land at the top of our hill is the last undeveloped area nearby. It would be a
beautiful destination to every one of us who love to walk. More and more residents have
been out and about very locally due to the pandemic and would have recently benefited
from being able to access this land. I stand outside the fence at the top of the street and look
in and think of the many people who could stroll in the open space if it was allowed. Please
City of Woodinville, make this happen for us. The density of our neighborhood would
more than justify a space used for the public good of fresh air and nature for all to enjoy. It
could have a similar usage to Brightwater and the trails there.
We have the Woodinville Heights park, and it is great. The upper park would be accessible to
even more people because of its proximity to the newer neighborhood on the Woodinville
Duvall Road. They only have a tiny little park over there that I know of. It seems like the new
upper park could have three or four pedestrian entrances throughout the neighborhoods.
It would be awesome to make this happen.
I'm not sure of all the technicalities involved, but I am sure that the properties do look
perfect for a top of the hill open space for walking and sitting, and possibly other easy to
afford uses for all to enjoy. Picnics! Bird watching! Frisbee. What a great way to enjoy our
community.
I hope you will let me know that you have read this email. I would be happy to volunteer with
whatever would help make this happen.
Thank you so much for all you do for Woodinville.
Best!
