A trio of male teachers at a high school in rural Indiana is
facing charges for sexually preying on a 16-year-old boy at
their school.
Putnam county authorities say the three - Putnam High substitute
Spanish teacher Nicholas A. Vester, band director Craig E.
Rogers and former lifeguard and swim instructor Brandon D.
Largent - had sexual encounters with the victim during
overlapping periods from October to January, according to local
reports.
Police say Vester, 24, had more than a dozen intimate encounters
with the boy during his 12-week stint subbing at the school --
including one in a campus parking lot -- and was the only one to
have intercourse with the teen.
During that time, he and Rogers, 24, went on a date, where
Vester told him about his relationship with the teen, and he
later introduced the two, local station WLKY reported.
Rogers admitted to hugging, kissing and texting the boy,
according to local reports.
Largent, 20, who didn't have contact with the other two, kissed
the teen at school and exchanged texts and pictures with him,
the Indianapolis Star-Tribune reported.
The three were arrested last week.
Since the boy was 16, the age of consent in Indiana, the three
men were charged with child seduction, a felony in which a
guardian or teacher has any kind of sexual contact with someone
between the ages of 16 and 18.
Each could face up to three years in prison and a $10,000 fine,
WLKY reported.
Vester does not work at the school, while Rogers has been placed
on leave and Largent resigned, the station said.
