Palestine in Pictures: April 2025, The Electronic Intifada, 5 May 2025
These pictures are a testimony to the extraordinary 'sumud' of the Palestinian people, and the unparalleled evil sadism of the israelites:
... On 6 April, Israeli forces shot and killed Amer Rabee, a 14-year-old, at the entrance to Turmusayya, a town north of Ramallah in the central West Bank. The Israeli military claimed it had opened fire toward “terrorists” who had “hurled rocks” towards a highway. According to Defense for Children International-Palestine, Amer and two other children “were picking green almonds on the agricultural land adjacent to Route 60, when Israeli soldiers started shooting at the children from a distance of about 20 meters (66 feet) away. Amer was shot in the head and immediately collapsed”. DCIP said that Israeli forces withheld the boy’s body, which was found to have sustained 13 bullet wounds, for around five hours. Israeli forces fired some 46 bullets towards the three children; the two who survived “were shot a total of four times and sustained injuries to their stomachs and genitals” ... On 14 April, Israeli forces shot Malik al-Hattab, 16, in the stomach during an incursion into Jalazone refugee camp near Ramallah. The boy died after nearly 20 hours in intensive care, according to DCIP, which said that the boy’s severe internal injuries were likely caused by expanding bullets. These weapons have been prohibited under international law since 1868, according to Ayed Abu Eqtaish, a program director with the rights group, “due to the extreme and unnecessary suffering they cause. Yet, Israeli forces use these illegal weapons against Palestinian children with no consequences from the international community”.
UN Experts Call for Immediate Global Action to Halt Israel’s Annihilation of Life in Gaza, 8 May 2025
Dozens of independent United Nations experts issued a joint statement on Wednesday, warning that countries of the world are at a moral crossroads over israel's atrocities in Gaza, which they said "follow alarming, documented patterns of genocidal conduct. Remain passive and witness the slaughter of innocents or take part in crafting a just resolution," urging the world to avert the "moral abyss we are descending into .. while states debate terminology, is it or is it not genocide?, Israel continues its relentless destruction of life in Gaza. No one is spared, not the children, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers, journalists, health professionals, aid workers, or hostages. Food and water have been cut off for months, inducing starvation, dehydration, and disease, which will result in more deaths becoming the daily reality for many.” They also warned that countries continuing to support Israel, especially militarily but also politically, risk "complicity in genocide and other serious international crimes.”
Israeli Airstrikes Decimate the Last Restaurant in Gaza City in Nightmarish Bloodbath, Rasha Abou Jalal, May 08 2025
On Wednesday afternoon, two Israeli airstrikes slammed into Thai Restaurant, the last restaurant still open in Gaza City, turning a once bustling gathering place into a panorama of death. A third, near simultaneous, airstrike hit a nearby crowded market on al-Wahda street, sending body parts everywhere. At least thirty-three Palestinians were killed and nearly ninety wounded in the three airstrikes, though the actual death toll is likely higher. In these days of bloodshed, Wednesday was a particularly bloody day. Earlier this week, Israel vowed to escalate its already savage assault. At least ninety-two people were killed across Gaza today, most of them women and children .. Among the dead was a young boy who sold coffee to customers. I would see him whenever I visited. I still remember his smile .. “How long will we keep dying every day? Children, women, the elderly, even animals haven’t been spared from the killing. It’s absolute savagery. There’s no hope left for survival. If you don’t die from bombing, you die from hunger or disease. This war must stop now.” .. The attacks do not stop. The bombs fall everywhere, every day. In Gaza, Palestinians who have been displaced multiple times are being bombed in shelters .. Restaurants, charity kitchens, schools, shelters, and tents have all been hit. At least 235 schools and shelters have been bombed .. “It reflects Israel’s clear intent to cause the highest number of casualties among displaced civilians. It constitutes a full-fledged war crime and a continuation of the genocide being carried out against our people”. Al-Thawabteh held the U.S. administration responsible for the ongoing massacres, accusing it of providing unlimited military, political, and financial support to the Israeli government. He called on the international community to take immediate action to stop these crimes, protect civilians, and hold Israel accountable in international courts. Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues its relentless bombing of Gaza.
