Dear All,

Greetings from the Human Rights Advocacy and Research Foundation!

We are pleased to announce a five-day residential Master Training on the SCs and the STs (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (POA Act), to be held at Kodaikanal from 28 April to 3 May 2026.

This is an intensive and comprehensive training programme led by senior advocates and experienced practitioners. The training will cover the following key topics:

  • POA Act and Rules
  • Contingency Plan
  • Victim and witness Protection
  • Relief and Rehabilitation
  • Step-by-step case process and follow-up
  • Role of CSOs & HRDs
  • Duties and responsibilities of officials
  • Nuances in court proceedings

Who can apply:

  • Dalit and Tribal rights defenders
  • Individuals supporting atrocity survivors and witnesses
  • Civil society organisations working on Dalit and Tribal rights
  • Practicing lawyers
  • Women participants are especially encouraged to apply

Course Fee:
₹10,000 per participant (includes food and accommodation).
Travel expenses must be borne by the participants.
Note: Partial scholarships are available for those in need.

Application Deadline: 7 April 2026
The training will be conducted in Tamil.

Selection Process:

  • Stage 1: Fill in the application form.
  • Stage 2: Screening of applications.
  • Stage 3: Two online sessions on 11 and 18 April 2026, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM for shortlisted candidates (Mandatory).
  • The list of successful participants will be announced on 19th April 2026.
  • Only selected candidates will be invited to attend the in-person residential training.
  • Participants will be provided with shared accommodation.
