The UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Right to Safe Drinking Water & Sanitation presented her report on stigma and the realization of the right to safe drinking water & sanitation to the Human Rights Council this week:

The document, which our Law Center consulted on, contains numerous references to the stigmas of homelessness, poverty, ex-offender status, racial and gender discrimination, and other forms of marginalization that are both caused by and complicated by lack of access to water and sanitation. It cites the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness report on criminalization of homelessness and can be used in framing litigation and policy arguments around these issues.

If you have any questions about the document or using it in advocacy, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks,
Eric
