Friends,
Shocking and sad to hear the sudden demise of Mr. Pandiyan Kamal today the 12th of July 2021 a great young Dalit Intellectual and activist, internationally known for his commitment and dedication, it is a great loss to the oppressed communities and people’s movements. It is very unfortunate and it is too early to go away soon. Unable to digest he is no more. We pray to Almighty to give enough strength, courage at this time to the family members, relatives, colleagues and friends. Let his soul rest in eternal peace.

Henri Tiphagne founder of People Watch (TN) that Pandiyan Kamal was founder of an initiative called Witness for Justice based in Madurai, who earlier worked in SASY in Tindivanam, and before that was associated with the Dalit Foundation fro a few years and closely associated with the NCDHR and the IDSN in different ways and most importantly started his career initially as an intern at People's Watch and later as a human rights monitoring staff, is now gone to eternal rest. I personally wish to offer my personal and organizational condolences to his wife and son and family on both sides. Would like everyone of my freinds to believe that his faily and staff had done all that needed to have been done for him at the hospital where he was admitted in Madurai after he is stated to have suffered an accident at his office on 3rd July during a zoom meeting that was witnessed by over 50 persons we are informed. Unfortunately, many of us in Madurai were informed of the complications of this accident quite late. We wish to remember his contribution to dalit human rights in particular, especially his work among the younger generations of dalit activists. May his soul rest in peace. We are informed that the funeral will be held at the Madurai Kadachanendal CSI Church @ 10 AM.
