Po povodu novogo interface'a popup'ov, tochnee ego otsutstvija:

Tekushaja sistema, kogda vmesto popupa oktrivaetsja modalnoe okno vo
mnogih sluchajah nepriemlima. Vo mnogih sistemah chasto voznikaet
neobhdoimostj otkritj neskoljko okon iz odnogo spiska srazu i
sravnivatj ih. Samij prosto primer - in-business. Absolutno vse chasto
otkrivajut neskolko taskov i sravnivajut chto v nih napisano. S
tekushej realizaciejej (kak v RC) - eto nevozmozhno.

Poetomu ja predlagaju sdelatj setting (ili ispolzovatj tekushij "Use
Pop-ups") i v sluchae kogda on vkljuchen - delatj NEmodalnie okna, a
luchshe vse-taki obichnie pop-up'i, t.k. oni imejut poleznoe svojstvo
pokazivatsja v Task-bar'e i etim udobno polzovatsja. Naprimer ih
mozhno peretjagivatj na drugoj monitor :) V sluchae s modalnim
iframe'om/div'om eto nevozmozhno.

I just recently downloaded and tried out the new version of In-Portal with the modal windows. There are a couple things very good about them. Mainly, it's easier for clients to understand what to do. Currently, they open one window, then open another window from that popup, then another, for example - modify a product, then modify the FCKeditor. The modal windows in this case force them to to do one thing at a time in the correct windows and save/close them in the correct order. With regular popups, clients sometimes minimize and loose them, then try to open them again through a toolbar button, then they don't popup because they're already open, and so on, until they call us and we spend 20 minutes on the phone figuring out what's going on, why a popup isn't opening for them somewhere. Also, modal windows look cool.

For advanced users, for whom this type of thing won't be a problem, it would definitely be a great feature to let them turn off modal windows and use regular popups. So an option where they can do that would be great and fitting since they're advanced enough to work with these kinds of things.

Hello everyone!

First of I'd like to say thanks to Kostya and Ilya for bringing up
this issue and posting their thoughts.

I agree with both of you and believe that your arguments boldly
outline need for development of this feature. We can't say it's super
easy task, but I already created in our Issue Tracker (
http://tracker.in-portal.org/view.php?id=96 ) so we'll appreciate ANY
technical input you can give us.

More over, Kostya we would be very pleased and appreciate your direct
involvement (or your team) in this particular task.

Do you think we have chances to have you helping us with the
implementation?

Cheers!

This maybe not so hard to implement as it seems at first, but still some
time is needed. Good idea, that both side opinions were represented.

Just a quick note here saying that option for Pop-up Windows instead
of Modal Windows has been implemented starting with In-Portal 5.0.0
and currently is presented for a NON-Public review.

Thanks
