Genesis 11:1-9 Now the whole earth used the same language and the same
words. It came about as they journeyed east, that they found a plain
in the land of Shinar and settled there. They said to one another,
“Come, let us make bricks and burn them thoroughly.” And they used
brick for stone, and they used tar for mortar. They said, “Come, let
us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into
heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be
scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” The LORD came down
to see the city and the tower which the sons of men had built. The
LORD said, “Behold, they are one people, and they all have the same
language. And this is what they began to do, and now nothing which
they purpose to do will be impossible for them. “Come, let Us go down
and there confuse their language, so that they will not understand one
another’s speech.” So the LORD scattered them abroad from there over
the face of the whole earth; and they stopped building the city.
Therefore its name was called Babel, because there the LORD confused
the language of the whole earth; and from there the LORD scattered
them abroad over the face of the whole earth.

The wonderful aspect of the word of God is that there is consistency
in what it speaks. Regardless of how hard it is for us 'intelligent
beings' to comprehend God's ability to create the heavens and the
earth and not be physically present (In our 20/20 vision), I have to
thank God that until now, we have seen consistency and relevancy in
all that has taken place.

Man fell yet prospered, is evil yet not totally condemned and rejected
by God and we have come to the point where this sinful man has now
started to use the knowledge gained from the fall of man to become
God.

I refer here to the building of the tower of Babel, the effort of the
combined intelligence of the men in Shinar who decided to make a
monument that would reflect the glory of their knowledge, ability and
skill. Does it not remind us of the great monuments from history of
man's achievements?

The question that comes to mind here is not why these men made this
structure or how come they spoke the same language but why God did not
destroy them but rather made them speak different languages and sent
them away?

God who created the heavens and earth could have just instantly
destroyed them but instead chose to separate them and this certainly
may not have been the wisest of decisions considering the sin in the
hearts of these men. Now the problem would be compounded as these men
went abroad, grew in number and grew in their sinfulness! Don't you
agree?

I am reminded of God's word in Romans 3:23 (NLT): For everyone has
sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Regardless of
what God does, the act of eating of the fruit of the tree of good and
evil brought into the world sin that forever made man sinfulness and
rebellious of God. Sin took dominion and separated us from God
forever.

Today we deal with sin in such a powerful way that we do not even
recognize it as sin! Take Christmas and Easter for example. They are
great celebrations globally of santa claus and the easter bunny and
mankind fully accepts these events as a celebration of its own rather
than the real reason, the birth and resurrection of the messiah of
this world, Jesus Christ.

God is not powerless but He certainly is merciful because He does not
want us to be lost in our sin but be found in His LOVE! Are you
blinded by sin and the truth of God and do you want His peace in your
life? Call on Jesus Christ right now and be saved from death and
eternal destruction.

Are you saved and live in blindness to the power of Satan in this
world? Humble yourself before God and ask Him back in to be the ruler
of your life and be the lamp unto your path as you walk toward Him and
His glory.
