we have 5 groups that share files. one of them completely dumped all its folders at the same time and this is the message in the Activity Unshared file/folder by clearing membership. I can not find the files anywhere, they are not showing up in deleted files. When i Rewound to prior to this happening as suggested by Dropbox support nothing was restored. How do I undo what has been done to get my files back?

I have had the same issue on Friday at 11:50 EST. A whole folder disapeared from Dropbox web, and can't get rewinded. It is like it never existed. I contacted them when it happened, but they have ghosted me since Friday 3:00 pm. I am also the administrator, and didn't share anything.

Basically it seems my external HDD had a connection issue and I got an email notification to say "mass deletion event" so went back to the PC and all I can see is literally thousands of entries saying "Unshared file/folder by clearing membership" with "unknown" access from and "unknown" location. No way to click to restore them, just notification its all gone.

This error has simply removed the entire company folder structure and I spent an hour explaining to DropBox staff and they said it would be escalated to a specialist but waking this morning find no one has done anything about it since yesterday, no one has replied when it appears all they need to do is a roll back now I have ascertained exactly what it is myself and that it is a known issue for business users (great coding guys!).

Let's just say you wanted to delete everything, to avoid it happening by accident i.e. like this due to a software bug, maybe a "are you sure you want to do this" would avoid the total calamity caused.

Same issue here. Spent over an hour explaining the issue to someone who didnt understand the issue. Now found this and they didnt respond on Friday so here were are with a business account and no support. Imagine I.T. companies who dont think anyone works at the weekend or might need support etc? Seriously poor show DropBox...

As an admin-level user, I moved a board from one folder to another and yet am unable to delete the now empty folder because I did not create it. Echoing the above, as an admin user, it is critical I am able to override the default permissions/ creations of lower-level users. Please help!

I am a French Guy so sorry for my English. I am not able to cancle the sharing of a folder even if I do this on the setting of that folder. Like this way : -and-collaboration/Unshared-folder-still-showing-up-a-shared/...

I am having the same issue. I need to move a folder that was shared to a new shared folder. I choose "unshare" for my original folder. It removed all members. It states "only you", meaning me, yet the shared icon will not got away nor can I move it to a new shared folder. And please don't say if it says "only you" then I need to removed myself. All of my folders that are unshared say that, yet aren't shared and do not have the icon representing the folders are shared. This has happened to me multiple times and I can't seem to find any advice on how to fix the problem other than copy all of the files to a new folder individually, which is a waste of time.

Yes, and I did click Unshare. However, the folder itself (even after I unshare) still has the "shared" icon - the two people figures in the folder. The members column shows "only you". After I have clicked unshare, and try to move it to a new shared folder, I get a message that I can't, because I can't have a shared folder within a shared folder. I understand that concept. Unfortunately, when I unshare, it doesn't recognize that. It removes all the members, but like I said, the folder icon still shows two people figure like it is still shared.

I agree - the design of this is absolutely terrible; this should be very straight forward. If I remove other people from it and I am the only one with access, then it should not be considered a shared folder any longer.

I think what I had to do was first "Remove from Dropbox". The folder still showed up with the "you haven't joined this folder" message. So then I went into Deleted Files and selected "Permanently Delete". Now finally it is gone.

We have set up an automation between our CRM and our Client Services workspaces to create a series of new boards from templates any time a new lead becomes a new client. However, there is no automation to build a new folder for that new account (which all boards should live under). This seems like a pretty obvious thing that is currently missing.

Yes we could really use this feature as well. There are different columns needed for different aspects of our projects. To have it all in one board is very cumbersome. Would be nice to divide into scheduling, ordering etc all within one project folder that could be created from a folder template with all the boards inside every time a deal is sold.

This has broken our entire file architecture and macro system! It is one thing to add a folder by default and an entirely different thing to change the name of the root folder and then add another subfolder in between. This is unacceptable from Dropbox's end and it is a feature that we have no use for anyway. Why wouldn't you make this an opt in? Highly disappointed and with issues like these, we will begin looking at a different file system that not only costs less but won't give us this type of thoughtless "feature" in the future.

This really is a massive step backwards in my opinion and we will also now start to look at other solutions unless Dropbox really start to come with solutions and understand the issues this has created for companies

We're in the same boat. Dropbox worked flawlessly starting from 2017 until this change that we didn't want or need and now syncing doesn't work. Deleted files on a Mac don't get deleted in the Dropbox cloud and Dropbox never stops syncing like it's stuck in a loop. So far tech support has asked us to log out, reinstall, quit, etc. None of it has worked and they have gone silent.

This was a complete disaster, changed all the file paths and broke all sorts of scripts / tools that we use for automation. This has made having standard environments difficult since every user has a different path to dropbox. Would be really great to revert this unnecassary change.

Not sure, but User_Account_Control is the most plausible reason.... Developers could weigh in, but I think security is probably a smart thing and past practice is of lesser importance.

I'm not sure what User Account Control has to do with anything here, I don't need elevated privileges. Security being the reason behind not allowing ArcGIS Pro to add folder connections at the drive root doesn't really make sense to me either - this can be easily thwarted by adding a symbolic link to the drive root, and you're in:

Additionally, my mapped network drive root is really just pointing to my organization's DFS file server. It's not actually the "root" of any machine, it's just a collection of folder shares from various network locations.

From an Esri Support Services call - "It is by design that you cannot make a folder connection to the entire C drive (or any other root drive) in ArcGIS Pro > -app/help/projects/connect-to-a-folder.htm This is due to performance issues--such as having all of the default folders on you C drive into Pro when they will never be used and using resources, etc. Just one folder down into a root drive (ex. C:\Desktop) would work."

Understand Matthew - there is an ArcGIS Idea for what you'd like to do already on GeoNet if you'd like to contribute your vote. The more votes there are, the more the idea grabs the attention of the Pro Development Team.

Sorry, but I absolutely can neither understand nor agree with any of ESRI explanations about any of fundamental questions about missing substantial functions in ArcGIS Pro. I am very disappointed with the path ESRI goes in implementation, well actually taking over some fundamental functions from ArcMap to AG Pro. For example, just take a look at the mess with edit and search functions in attribute table, just to mention one of them. ArcGIS Pro is here around two, three years now, please think for a second about that! What happened in that time? Not to much, I find. I feel, you develop those shiny, attractive new features, you can present and talk about at user conference, which is obviously also fine and represent software progress no doubt about that, but what is with all those small, not so shiny functions we need for our everyday work? You let us vote about them, for God's sake! You let us vote about if we need a search and find function in attribute table! You think that is the right way? I don't get it, really, that cannot be the right way.
