Hi All,
I am using Mac Book pro with Yosemite OS for basic home usage.

Was thinking to upgrade to Latest OS High Sierra.

Heard long ago, that Sierra wasn't stable, lead to slowing down of system.

Kindly suggest whether i should upgrade or stick to existing Yosemite.

Would like to know any pros/cons with  High Sierra.

Since not connected with Mac platform professionally for last 3yrs, hence need to know more of it.

Thnx & Regards

Dear Suyog,

Greetings of the day!

Upgrading to mac OS High Sierra from Yosemite has many benefits. Some of these are as follows-

1) Security improvements- Each version mac OS comes with security improvements. We live in a world of cyber crime where data security is a serious issue. Anything bad in this regard can have significant impact on our lives. Hence, a solid encryption is needed. Updating your OS will impart solid end to end encryption for your data.
2) Feature enhancement- New version of mac OS comes with new features in order to make things easier and simpler for you. Since, you are upgrading from Yosemite, you can enjoy features like Split View, Smarter and enhanced Spotlight, Enhanced Safari, Siri, Universal Clipboard, Auto unlock of Mac with Apple Watch, Shared Notes, Picture in Picture, Enhanced photos, Enhanced Messages, Apple File System (AFS)etc.
3) Design and Interface enhancement

Personal take-
I am using MacBook early 2015 and it runs mac OS High Sierra flawlessly. Apple always releases Developer beta and User beta before final release of any OS and most issues gets addressed here itself. For other minor issues, it has free software updates (including accessories e.g USB C to multi-port VGA adapter) which keeps you one step ahead of hackers with performance improvements.

Regards,
Shaswat

Hey Shaswat,

Thanks a ton for this write up.

One small query, whether to get it upgraded through App Store, or get it done through any service engg (have some ref who shall do it for me) , as online upgrade is around 4+GB, which might choke my bandwidth.

Hi Suyog!

You can simply upgrade it from App Store using your Apple ID and Password.

It will keep downloading it in the background. Once downloaded, you can click install.

Also, you can create bootable disk pen-drive/Hardisk before installing. Refer Youtube for the same.

A good internet speed always helps.

Regards,
Shaswat

Suyog,

You can always set the download in progress before you go to bed, and it should be ready to be installed any time after you wake up in the morning.
