Hi Rishi,

What about UniBeast?  Does it do the same thing?

The part where you have just a few seconds to unplug the pen drive sounds very stressful !!  Especially, if you have slow download speeds and have to wait for hours for this one action not to go wrong!

One more question.  Do the Apple Stores sell the Installer on USB pen drives, and would they work on the new Air?  The article below says they're only for laptops upgrading from Snow Leopard.

Hi Yuti,

I guess this is for a person that want's to get an offline copy of the 4GB DMG to make a USB drive with Lion Installer without having to buy an additional copy Lion from the Mac App store @ $29.99 & do it the legal way.   :)

When a person buys a mac that shipped with Lion, he does not have access to the DMG file on the drive, so if his drive needs to be re-formatted and wants to avoid the trouble of downloading a copy of Lion every time by using the Command-Option-R (force internet lion recovery), then this is a legal way to get an offline copy of InstallESD.dmg which can be used for any future installation of Lion.

UniBeast seems to do a lot of stuff and very interesting.

My understanding is the USB pen drive is not available in the Apple stores in India. You can make a USB bootable installer of Lion from the Mac App store if you buy it for $29.99

This article explains how to do that.

For any machine that came shipped with Snow Leopard, you would have to buy a copy of Lion from the Mac App store. This version of Lion has a copy of the InstallESD.dmg file. see link above on how to access this file for installing Lion on your system.
