[IMS Group] Is it possible to have one common STB for many service providers‏

Hi All,
 
Is it possible to have a common STB for many IMS-iptv service providers? Currently in Singapore, services providers all hv differnt STB and platform. Is it technically possible to have one common STB which support IMS, while different SP can have their own domain and P-CSCF. Then inside of STB, it could have multiple configuration files, containing many IMPI and IMPU, each of them map a SP. Users can switch between SP ?

great question. This is what we are trying to solve -:). Technically this is possible i am convinced about this and have some abstract layout of its architecture in mind and its just matter of time and resources.  because of the functional specification of IMS Head end as defined by  ETSI in their IPTV over IMS architecture . this has further helped to design & implement a plug and play type STB for IMS based IPTV head end solutions

Well OpenTV Forum people are working in good direction but in my thinking ETSI Standards will take precedence wherever both come with different solution for same problem. Two may coexist though in some cases , or one may take precedence over other when one is either silent or is open on some aspect . But i see the ETSI standard more bright that OpenTV ,Don;t foget to Follow 3GPP and OMA ( ETSI is also collaborating in these bodies as well) they may comeup with some Standarization Aspects of IPTV over IMS , and hence may lead to some Real Open STB for IMS
