Dear all,
Following an intensive period of development the GICHD will be launching a new version of IMSMA in October. This new version of IMSMA NG is the first since the release of IMSMA NG v5 in 2005. The new version responds to a wide range of feedback from the mine action community and will incorporate significant technical upgrades to its core system as well as adaptions to the latest Land Release IMAS. Some highlights includes updated terminology, vastly extended functionality for Victim Assistance, online interactive manuals, revamped simplified reporting approach, and a web-based indicator monitoring tool. Although there are significant technical differences between IMSMA version 5 and 6, the user interface will remain familiar. The migration to version 6 will be a larger undertaking than moving between releases (for instance 5.6 to 5.7), but it will be much smaller than the project to move from IMSMA Legacy (v3) to IMSMA NG (v5). The launch of IMSMA NG v6 also marks the beginning of a new cycle of less frequent but more robust software updates.
In order to ensure an efficient roll-out of this new version to our national partners, the GICHD is organizing a series of regional workshops during which the senior Information Management Officer of your organisation will have the opportunity to evaluate the software and asses the work to upgrade to v.6.
An advisor from the GICHD Information Management support team will contact each mine action programme shortly to discuss the current information management requirements and to assess with the heads of information management whether these workshops will be of interest. Limited sponsorship opportunities will be available for application but since a workshop will be organized in your region we expect travel costs to be minimal. Further logistical details will be made available soon and will be communicated to you.
We look forward to being in touch over this issue and to further collaboration in the field of mine action information management.
With best regards,
Avec mes meilleures salutations,
Head, Management Consulting division
