Mine action geodetics course

The first international Geodetics workshop will take place from the 22nd of July until the 2nd of August 2013. It will be hosted by the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action at their Goygol training base. It will be a 10 day workshop on the use of geodetic tools and methods within the context of humanitarian mine action. This course is the first of its kind and is jointly delivered by the GICHD divisions for management consulting and operations consulting. The course will teach methods to optimise the accuracy of a range of tools like the compass, GPS, dGPS, topographic maps, satellite imagery, UAVs, and laser range finders. It will also look at ways to enhance accuracy of traditional tools and methods like bearing & distance, and triangulation.

 

The aim of this course is to present tools and methods for increased geo-spatial data accuracy in every stage of the land release process. The course should enable National Authorities to develop national standards that promotes the use of appropriate geodetic methods for the available tools.

 

All interested candidates are invited to send a detailed CV and a complete personal history form no later than 31st of May 2013 to the course manager, Inna Cruz (i.c...@gichd.org). Please note that the number of seats is limited. Attached is a detailed course description. The course fee includes domestic transport, accommodation and full board. Some sponsorship is available.
