The shelf the IMSAI was sitting on came off the wall (don't ask) and the Sd card and slot were sheared off the board taking the pads and parts of the tracks with it.
I am thinking of getting one of the extensions and cutting off the connector on one end and soldering the other end to the test points next the SD card slot mounting point.
Is that possible? Is it a straight left to right soldering exercise or do I need to follow a specific order? If it is not possible I probably need to hack something to piggy back of and mount that somehow, any tips are welcome.

That is unfortunate indeed!! For ease of use I use an SD extension cable (plugged into existing socket and mounted on side of case) so what you are proposing is a good practical solution. My cable is, as you put it, straight left to right.

There is a video of someone who inadvertently removed the pads from the board.

About 3 and a half minutes in, she talks about a solution for this.

If you don't come up with anything else, I have small PCB for such repairs.
Its takes another uSD socket and then uses a 10pin header (0.1" spacing) and mounts to the main IMSAI8080esp PCB over the same area as the existing uSD socket.
(You'll notice a a row of 10 pads just behind the uSD socket).

Email me if you want me to supply this PCB and a new uSD socket (and a 10 pin header, I guess).

Tried several approaches. Can't get it to see the uSD slot. Could you send me the addon PCB please? My board though only.has 8 pads behind the uSD mounting location
thank you. MIke

Hey folks, similar-ish challenge here.
I rather over-ambitiously rack mounted my IMSAI a few years ago with the unfortunate side effect that the SD card extender is very exposed when removed from the rack.

I fear that the SD slot is almost at the end of its tolerance of me smashing it into the cabinet!

Any strategies for redirecting my SD card would be appreciated!

cheers...Andy

This exact thing just happend to me.   The Blue shell sherred in half the SD card and broke the switch in the slot.  Lucky no switches where broken.

I just purchased some SD Card readers so I think I can fix it.20230303_183918.jpg
