VT132 OTA update

Hi,

I've just dusted off a VT132 board that I built a while back. As I'm running old firmware (V1.2.0-beta1) I tried to do an OTA update and failed miserably. 

I can connect to my wifi and get an IP address.

I cleared NVR (not sure if that needed at this point)

I've changed to OTA URL to https://bit.ly/VT132latest as described in the V1.3.0 release notes. I get an OTA URL SET message.  

 

Then :

AT+W?

WIFI CONNECTED

AT+U?

OTA BEGIN FAILED

AT+U^

OTA NO IMAGE

Have I missed something?

Hi,

I've now managed to upgrade to V1.5.0 using the esptool method. I've no idea why the OTA upgrade didn't work, but I notice that AT+U? now works, telling me that I have the current version.

I know there were issues with certificates, but don't know the details. I wonder if that stopped the upgrade from V1.2.0-beta1 to V1.5.0 ?

glad you got it working. There were two problems with OTA updates over time. One was buffer space for the URL, that's what the bit.ly link addressed. The other was digital certificates. There was a period when GitHub/Amazon S3 was hosting both the old and the new and there was a window to transition. I'm guessing by now they've removed the old certificates completely so it won't work anymore with such an old firmware.

At least we'll know if someone else hits the same problem.
