I think (I've said this before, but I think this is the appropriate
anchor for this comment) that it would be useful to agree on what
material is going to be covered for each of these three categories for
the whole week. Based on that, the instructors can coordinate amongst
each other to determine who covers what. I don't think it's necessary
to write a detailed lesson plan (although these are valuable tools!),
but I do think it's really important that we decide what to cover
rather than just 'winging it' like we did this year.

Previous years were maybe more structured, or maybe I just wasn't
thinking about this in the past, which is why this comment didn't come
to me. Also, I looked over and saw a lot of combinations on the heavy
bags--I think this is good, but I also don't want us to use it as
"filler" (I'm guilty of this as well, mostly because I'm not sure what
combination drills the other instructors had worked on).

Whatever happened to the long lines of everyone holding pads for each
other? That was fun :-D

One more thing--coordinating by day will also be good because we will
be able to 'use' each other's teaching to help maximize student
learning. I.e. the drill lesson on one day will build into the kata
lesson, which will augment the kumite lesson, which will in turn
support the drill lesson.

I'm thinking a "bad" example of this would be jigotai-dachi techniques
for drills, followed by slow tai-chi style kata, followed by high
intensity point sparring. A "better" example might be partner cross-
ex, followed by 'fighting count' kata (individual and/or group),
followed by point sparring. Just to keep things flowing into each
other, and so the students don't feel like they're jumping into
something new and different each rotation--there's something familiar
to build off of. Thoughts?
