On the occasion of the World Dance Alliance Festival in New Delhi, Gati
in collaboration with WDA (India) and Max Mueller Bhavan offers master
classes and workshops in contemporary dance with world-renowned artists
and choreographers from Singapore, Cambodia, Pakistan and Taiwan.

Kalarippayattu is a martial art form from Kerala. A perfect supplement
for dancers, Kalari helps to build agility, strength and concentration.
Its regular practice also helps develop stamina and a strong centre.
Each class will be designed as a self contained unit. Dancers are
invited to drop in and attend as many classes as they like. The fees is
Rs. 250/- for a single class and Rs. 1500/- for 10 classes.
Mr. Murugan Pillai is the honorary Secretary of Nithya Chaithanya
Kalari (Regd.) and also Honorary Secretary, Delhi Silambam Assocation.
He has been decorated the honorary Gurakal title. He is a master
in Kalarippayat and Silambam, as well as a Ist Degree Black Belt Holder
in Taekwon-Do. Mr Pillai has taught Kalari to various dance companies
in Delhi such as the Aditi Mangaldas Dance Company and Sadhya.

Mandeep Raikhy will be teaching a release-based class that explores
alignment, dynamics and efficiency in movement and find ways of using
this momentum-based dynamic in improvisation tasks.
Each class will be designed as a self contained unit. Dancers are
invited to drop in and attend as many classes as they like. The fees is
Rs. 250/- for a single class and Rs. 1500/- for 10 classes.
Mandeep Raikhy is a dance practitioner based in Delhi. He finished a BA
(Hons) in Dance Theatre at Laban, London, in 2005 and has been
regularly working with Shobana Jeyasingh Dance Company, London, since.
He has also been regularly conducting release-based technique classes
for professional dancers in Delhi and is currently working very closely
with Gati Dance and The Danceworx to develop a supportive environment
for contemporary dance in the city.
