The US is the only country that I know of in the history of humanity that has created a system in which the laws are created by those with money to allow them to make more money with a system of justice that rewards those able to pay over those that can’t. US Justice is not blind, it is a bank teller who cares little of the dead in the streets at the hands of over zealous military equipped police and expects the line into the court system to part for the royal encounters of her high priced lawyers and their wealthy clients. Your guilt is based on your credit rating. 

Crimes are fought with our taxpayer dollars not on a scale of risk to the citizen rather on the scale of risk to the accumulation of wealth to the various copy right holders who are now having the FBI extradite people from foreign countries (who have never been nor want to be in this joke of a democracy) for creating torrent sites or places where people could share and store their digital possessions . What should be civil crimes have turned into international raids with guns, ships, aircraft and military style raids all because of websites that hold links to content, and not the content itself. We on the other hand see rampant crimes in all areas that are ignored or have little budget to allow any sort of enforcement. Crimes that may be violent to the citizen but hold no risk to the wealth of the content copyright holder.

The true crime is that our lawmakers have let the hollywood structure steal our culture to the point we have none, as we can no longer afford it. No longer is folk music, folk tails and lore out side the occasional excuse for the actions of law makers wishing to steal the heritage of another, within our reach. Instead perpetual sequels and reboots, music that feeds a systemic rot of brain dead performers and holidays that now belong to Hallmark. Even the old tales of Grimm are now locked down by Disney as their lawyers reach out into the lore of Asia.

People did not come to the internet to become thieves, rather the copyright-holders greed refused to accept the limitations of existing copyright law and the new reality of digital value and distribution. Obama came to DC with Mr DMCA himself as VP and the true culture wars began. Now the civil risks to a very few and very rich are our burden to bare in a world that is finding out what signing trade treaties with the US is really about
