Pagination not working properly

Hi All,

I am getting Problem with pagination. when I am in second page then the first page link and prev link are showing like this

http://localhost/joomla/index.php/

where as it should show http://localhost/joomla/index.php?start=1

I am new to joomla framework for which unable to find out where exactly i need to set the 'start' parameter.

please help me out.
